So I purchased a lot of 5 abus 83/45 locks, no keys on eBay for $30, good deal? Anyways picked them open fairly quickly, gutted one of the cores and while reassembling see picture for what happened hahaha damn spring loaded stopper pin found its way into one of the pin stack holes... Well one core is junk now haha

i know there is a thread about how to fix that. selim fixed one that got messed up for me too.

I think you can drill through the bible of the one chamber and then dump the pins and springs, then you can push the stopper pin.

these were made so you just repin them through the pin window, but if you want to mess with the top pins... this can happen.

They are the kwiksets, the one I gutted had 4 spools and a mildly serrated pin, I was thinking to drill a very small hole and push a needle down to push the pin into the other pin, minimizing the damage to the cylinder, vs drilling the hole and removing the stack

UPDATE: i was able to fix the core, i drilled a very tiny hole in the top of the stack that locked it up and was able to push the pin down and free it, i even went ahead and repinned the core to one of my house keys.

What cores do they make for these locks? i have heard of the kwikset and schlage, do they make anything high security? preferably something with a a sidebar?

Yeah, there is a fix. A drill, a tap, and a grub screw. I'm very careful when gutting 83 cores lol. I have a couple that have the last hole drilled out the top of the bible, a groove milled sideways across the hole, and a brass shim slid over it like a kik or mortise. Just for the last pin though. lol

Your fix sounds a little better, will try your method if it ever happens to me! lol

Yeah it worked out good, anyone know what other cores they make for these locks? I haven't been able to find too much info on it

Y1/Y2, Schlage SC1/4, Weiser, Sargent LA, there are proprietary keysways (I have one made for C.R. England trucking) M1 and if you buy a 83/45wo you can uae just about any kil/kik cylinder.
