This is why we bitch when new legislation comes out against knives, guns, etc. We get so busy trying to protect ourselves from sharp pointy things that it just becomes plain ridiculous.

An anti-stab knife?

Ok, so what happens if instead of stabbing someone - you cut their throats?

You know, creep up behind, reach around with your left, cup their chin w/ your hand, pinch their nose - and then slice across the throat with your right hand using the anti-stab knife - and then kick their legs out from under them?

Does it make you (the victim) feel better that at least you weren't stabbed? (Wanker)

They are all morons. Plain and simple. They will have an extremely difficult time banning knives in this country unless of course they the auto type.

Don't be so sure. They could do this overnite - it's already started with US Customs getting into the act by trying to ban importation of any knife that can be opened with one hand.

If they can succeed in doing that - then the next jump is to ban knives that don't need to be "opened" - in other words, fixed knives. It really wouldn't be that far of a stretch for the Gov't Nanny Police to make that extrapolation.

If they made knives similar to pocket knives, combat folders and the like, our amendment rights would be in trouble. This is simply not the case and will not be the case. There are a number of individuals in the house and senate who would see to this, I can assure you. I also must add that if anyone went to great lengths to remove these items from the market, all hunters, SCUBA divers (myself), citizens and just about every boy scout would be in danger.

Let me clarify the point that I'm trying to make.

It's a simple step to go from banning the imporation of knives that can be opened by one hand - to banning domestic knives that can be opened with one hand.

Example: Under Bill Clinton, the gov't went from banning the importation of "assault weapons" (i.e AK 47's, SKS semi-auto, Valmet M71S) to banning domestic "assault weapons".

Even though the definition of an assault weapon truly only applies to a fully aurtomatic weapon - politicians, who don't know the difference between a bolt action and a bolt cutter, decided to write legislation that was so broad that its practical application could theoretically result in the banning of all semi-automatic weapons. Not to mention the fact that there is a totally different process that you have to go through to own a fully auto Class III weapon. They lumped apples and oranges together.

As for politicians standing up for our rights - don't count on it. Politicians only care about getting re-elected and keeping their power.

I am cynical of all politicians. They are professional liars who will screw their old, blind, grandmothers for a vote.

A cynic is "a person who believes that only selfishness motivates human actions and who disbelieves in or minimizes selfless acts or disinterested points of view."

But hey, that's just me....I threw away my rose colored glasses a long time ago.
