I can't open my mail with a handgun
That is the whole point behind the arguement. Where a gun is primarily a weapon, a knife is not. So to restrict them as weapons is not in Americans best interest. Dying of bee stings is of higher concern than dying of knife wounds.
It is the idea that the government is trying to sneak it in under the pretense of a customs act, but WILL effect government at the state and local level. This shit is not supposed to be passed from the top down. It's adopted by local government, then state government until it becomes national policy, if such action is required. In that way it is the will of the people instead of rules handed down by big brother for us to follow. It's a useless restriction that violates EVERY knife using american's personal liberty where there is 100% no need for it. A law that can define any of a dozen different types of mechanisms, or a hundred different types of modifications is way too vague. Especially on a knife, which is primarily a tool and not a weapon. So a cheapo pocket knife with the slip joint spring busted could be a modified one handed knife. So now a broken knife could be defined as a modified weapon as easily as a one handed opening knife, assited opening, spring loaded knife... I mean this could restrict the carry of any and all pocket knives. Forget the fact almost everyone carries some type of liner locking one handed knife or box cutter, and see that it is a way to stretch the boundaries of the definition of criminal intent to include simple possession of a folding edged tool. A pocket clip being probable cause for a search was too much, this is WAY out of line.
Remember when I said I would find a model for everyone who wanted to write their representatives... knife rights is the site I was going to use. Next time I'll click on your link first Hallis, I promise
I should have figured you already had it covered.
