Re: Got Rats...

Dude got in way over his head on that big ass tree. I love that video! Swaprat makes some really good blades, and they are alot more affordable than anything Busse makes.

Yeah, he was kinda huffin' and puffin' a bit - probably took him 8 hrs to chop through it. But he played it out all macho lumberjack style though.

Re: Got Rats...

I saw the full length video when they were still making 'em. It was like 18 minutes long. Swords are for cutting down men, not trees. Swingin' an ax on that tree would have been enough of a workout. He's lucky it fell over before he did  Why they didn't choose a more representative cutting medium I cannot say. They are nice swords though, if you've got use for a sword... very cool.

Re: Got Rats...

I just have a critique of the paper cutting portion of the video.

All of the tree contact with the blade was from the half-way section to the tip, and the RAZOR sharp demonstration was from the blade section closest to the handle which wasn't dulled at all( no contact with tree).
He could be pounding on a fire hydrant for an hour, stop, and do the same papercutting demonstration, just as long as no dulling contact was made on the handle-side length of the blade.

Peace and keep your tools clean and sharp.

Re: Got Rats...

Wood doesn't do much to a good edge in that short of time. It's harder on the user to try and chop down a tree than it is on the blade. The angle he's at hides the size of the blade a little. He's testing the length of the edge, it's just a little harder to see.
