Nice to see some blades.

Here’s a bit of trivia Re: Puma knives. The knife people here would know it but it may not be known to others.

All Puma knives have a little indent on the back of their blades. This is the result of each blade being tested for (Rockwell) hardness.

Sorry about the photos. I had to do some adjusting to show the indent and even then they are a bit hard to see.

They are Puma knives. Like I said, the indent is on the back of the blade and it would have been a bit of a waste of space to post pics of the other sides.

Nice! Here is my Puma Hunter. I was told it was from the 60s or 70s and it was rusty so the person that gave it to me took it to a wire wheel. Unfortunately it removed the logo

It is indeed a 60/70 Puma Hunter. Shame about the wire wheel but still a nice (and valuable) knife.

They used to advertise the flat at the point as a hammer !!! Maybe for very small nails.

Looks like the indent is still visible just under the finger serrations.

Edit. Forgot. Puma made a range of Hunter knives. Hunters Pal, Hunters Friend and the White Hunter the most expensive ($470) and biggest. Your one.

That's funny that they do the test on the blade. I guess it is a marketing thing. I would have done it on the handle where it would get hidden by scales. Interesting that they seem to use 440A for a lot of their knives.

Yes, I've always wondered why they used 440A instead of 440C or one of the more exotic steels like D2 or 154 CM. They certainly charge enough!!

Still they seem to be able to treat the steel pretty well.

I think the mark on the blade is so that you can see it - genuine Puma...bla bla bla.

Though they don't seem to advertise the fact that it is there. On their online catalogue they only mention it on one knife.
