Hello from Florida

I am LockMan789 from Florida.
I've always been into security, but found Mechanical Security (locks) far more interesting than computer/virtual security.

I started out as just an "emergency helper" as my intention, but loved it so much (haven't helped anyone yet) that I decided to invest money into it and I am working to become a locksmith now as a full-time career.

I have a HUGE background in computers and spend most of my time on a computer and learning, pretty much if it CAN be done on a computer, I likely know enough to be able to accomplish whatever the goal is.

I've done: programming, HTML, audio/video editing, 3D CAD modeling, installing OS/software, animations, removing malware, building computers piece by piece, repairing computers and I could make a huge list, but you get the point.

My favorite tools change on an ongoing basis, however, I really like the:
Short Hook. :longhook:
Snake Rake :snakerake:
and the Bogata style rake.

I also make some of my own tools and have thought about offering to make some to sell.

At the time I posted this, I was unable to open a Brinks Marine Maximum Security padlock which i picked the most difficult key-code they had in the store. I need the right tool to maneuver in the lock to be able to pick the tiny 1/8" tight curvy keyway.

Here are some wrenches I made for someone

This doesn't list them all, but has descriptions:

Re: Hello from Florida

Welcome Lockman. :agree:

All of your computer skills could pay off with the right locksmith shop. We are looking at getting a person who can link up I.P. cameras so that our customers can see their properties and business on a smartphone, through the internet etc.

I'm sure there are other locksmiths out there who need someone with your skills.

Re: Hello from Florida

Ahoy and welcome aboard. You will find yourself right at home here. I will say i have a similar brinks max security lock and frankly, did the same thing you did for bitting. It is truely a tough lock to pick, but you may have better luck with a deeper hook coming from below vs a short hook navigating through the wardings. I have yet to pick mine, but, i seem to not have the feel for brinks yet. I can get through most american, schlage, kwikset, etc, but, those darn brinks ones always throw me through a loop. I think i need more practice with blending spool pins with standard drivers, but i digress, welcome to keypicking and i hope you have a fun time while you are here

Re: Hello from Florida

I have that lock too, though I didn't pay any special attention to the bitting when I was picking it out at the store.

It seemed like it took me forever to pick it the first time - I was trying it every day for like a month before I finally picked it, lol! Once I got it and learned it's tricks, it was fairly easy to pick.

This pick works great on it (made from sweeper bristle):

I just 'roll' it around through the warding.

Everyone knows that people from Florida are superior in every way. I mean, that's just common knowledge.
