Welcome dude. But I'm afraid you can't talk about what other forums you've been on because that is considered 'advanced'! Not really, this aint LP101!

That is what caused me to come to this forum. Not to mention this is a much easier forum to navigate. Then once you get here there are people that actually have a sense of humor and are not stuck on themselves.

Welcome, I know you will get more out of this forum than any other could hope to offer.

Same here, I actually joined there first but came here when I found out you couldn't talk about anything beyond a basic Kwikset there.

Welcome Daggers, as a new guy myself I can say that you're going to feel at home here. These people are incredibly nice and helpful.

Re: New here but have been on lp101

I remember one of the first questions I asked on LP101 was what lock was inside one of those Fire Dept padlocks because I didn't know and I got a answer back asking why I need to know and just making me seem like a criminal and that's when I came here to keypicking were people are nice. Welcome to the forum man!

Yeah, I asked what lock is on a VW Golf and got accused of being a car thief! Or it was insinuated at least, you'd think they've discovered the secret to the universe the way they behave on there.

Re: New here but have been on lp101

Well, they have LOTS and I mean LOTS of people signing up and their first question is "How do I pick this (vending machine/door/car lock/washing machine) lock. They swear it is their own, even include a badly taken dark photo sometimes.

They tend to not answer these questions for that exact reason. It is not their lock and they are looking to steal something. Thats why they answer specific questions from newer members that way.

I do understand that but my question to them was what kind of lock it was not how to pick, bypass or destroy the lock so I didn't understand why I got such a rude answer back. I am glad keypicking was around because if it wasn't I probably wouldn't have learned as much as I have.

I read a lot more than I post, a LOT more. The criteria to join the advanced forums there are very high for me:
If you have less than 40 posts and/or less than 3 months in, please don't apply. You'll get denied, guaranteed.
There is a lot I learned from there but it simply wasn't enough, I want more and the only way to get it there is from the advanced forums. I'm not claiming to have learned everything I could from the basic forums but I can only reread the same information so many times before I grow bored. Here that isn't a problem, there seems to be a wealth of information on every subject I can imagine relating to the sport.

While I understand their reasons for limiting access, and even applaud them for the efforts of keeping said information away from the less desirable types, I think they're doing it in the wrong way. Not that I have any better ideas on how to do it, but still.

That being said, I think we can all agree that not all sites can be as good as this one!

Re: New here but have been on lp101

Another part of it is that if somebody uses information that they provide to commit a crime, the victim could technically sue LP101. That is why they are usually quite blatant about not giving said information out.
