Hello from Detroit Michigan

I would like to introduce myself . My name is Fritz and some of my old friens call me Fritz the Cat . Something about a cat named Felix ? I still haven't figured that out .
I became interested in lockpicking back in 71 when my shop teacher lost the key to the trophy display case. I looked at the lock and noticed that it used a rachet system to lock the glass . I knew about shimming handcuffs and appied the same tek to the teachers amazement :D :prybar: . I got drafted into the war and joined the Navy got injured and was back to civilian life shortly after , I studied the Belsaw Locksmithing course with my wife and got my first HPC pick set which Ive had since . Its falling apart.
Fourty years later I rekindled my interest in picking locks because of 2 events. My son purchased a trunk of old magig tricks citca 60s . Along with the box of tricks were 4 picksets , a modest collection pf key blanks , key machine and handcuffs (new). The other event was finding an old S & G enviromental lock at the old Warrem Tank Plant grounds now an industrial park .
So I've been picking and making picks . Which was getting old so now I,ve ordered a Monstrm XXL from Sparrows . That was yesterday . Canada is due South from here across the Ambassador bridge . The order has been processed yesterday . I wonder how long it'll take ?

Nowadays, I'll usually start out throwing a prybar in there...
but I still often times revert to that homebrew tensioner.
Always nice to have more than one option.

I'm on the western coast. Actually I couldn't be much further from you. lol

Are either of the safes open? If so it'd be worth your time to go take the locks off em'.
More and more now, safe locks are really getting expensive. I use to get most of mine
for around $12-$15. But now you're getting a pretty good deal if you nab one up for $30.
MANY of them I see are $50 and up. And the older they are the more money they want.

The junk lady says someone opened the Diebold a few years vack . I suspect he knew a factory code He shut it . It would make a rifle safe I think . The one with the Yale lpck has a corner busted ? . Door is intact and shut. She wants to nuch buy would go down, its been there for 50 years . I could get a picture of the two/

Thanks for the warm welcome Papa Gleb . I visited Brooklyn several times when I was a kid, I remember playing a lot of handball with "pinkys" . No handball in Detroit

I just bought a pinky at the dollar store a while back . Same ball except the barcode

I might post some pics of my handmade pick set. Nothing special except I didn't use power tools :geek:
