Hey there everyone!
Im new here (Forgive me for my poor grammar and spelling). I wanted to drop in and introduce myself. My name is Benjamin, im 30 years old and I just got out of the Army. I got a job at a small Ace Hardware recently and have spent some time making keys for customers. I gradually got more interested in locks and how they work. I went from cutting keys once in a while to watching lots of Lock picking lawyer and Bosnian bill videos on YouTube. Needless to say I got dragged into this hobby. So, I went on amazon and got my first set of clear practice locks and picks, It was a DISASTER. The tolerances are horrible and the picks are sharp and flimsy (from what I have read that's not desired?). Anyways, I bought a set of Southord Picks as well got permission to take a few junk locks from work home, I have made my way through 3 and one USPS lock I found on the ground outside my apartment. I also acquired a American Locks 1100 that I have had no luck with. I decided to get the Sparrow Revolver and am waiting on it to get here, once I learn and conquer that I will be moving up to Mr Wizards Supermax. Anything that can help me get more involved and/or learn more would be great.

Anyways, Thanks for letting me be a part of your community and allowing me to introduce myself.

Benjamin

Welcome to the forum. Don't just watch BB and LPL on YouTube, there are many Youtubers with good content channels.

Oh I know, I'm searching and subscribing as I go. The algorithm still thinks I want mostly Lunkers, demo ranch and 3d printing stuff. eventually I will get better recommendations. I could use a few tips on good to watch channels and what exactly to look up. I was planning on buying a few different cores for the Revolver but im still not sure what I'm looking for lol.

Hi, my name is Jason D. Stone from Portland, OR USA. I have been lockpicking since 2016. I currently am an Orange Belt on r/lockpicking on Reddit. I have just cracked an Abus 55/40, and my next lock I am working on is a Master Lock 911. My current goals are to crack a Master Lock 410 LOTO, Abus 74/40 LOTO, and an American 1100. I am on YouTube, but most of that contest is knife and knife sharpening related. I just got done building my tool kit, which has a Sparrows Sherman case stuffed.

Hello pickers. My name is Bob. And what got me started is an old Cole file cabinet that my wife bought for $10 for my son after he graduated from college. Well the file cabinet has been disgarded and is mine now. The file has a safe, the we have never had the combination for, and has nothing inside. But it wasabis a challenge for me to test my hand at cracking it. Well, after watching videos on testing the contact points, and spending hours trying, I am no closer to getting in LOL. I’ve even borrowed my retired nurse wife’s stethoscope, to no avail. I do know the serial number and dial diameter. I would also appreciate some help in getting the combo if anyone has the 411. My plan is to then use the opened safe and code as a training tool to hone my skills moving forward. Greetings! Bob
PS My serial number is 880227 and the dial is 3” diameter

Hi everyone
I'm from S. NV. Lockdown for COVID gave me the all the reason I needed to start learning about opening objects in a manner inconsistent with the design of objects. Of course Padlocks and Entryway locks wre the first to fall. However, my imagination is sparked and will unabashedly, at least, attempt opening anything once . It's something my wife adores(accepts) and my children encourage. :padlock: :tension: :spinning:

Always loved mechanical things. collector and repair person of coin-op items. pinballs, jukeboxes, arcade games, and have a few safes.

Joined because of my recent purchase of a double door stacked mosler safe round lig door on top, regular door on bottom. both were locked when purchased. I have opened the lower door mosler 302 mech. the top may be harder as it has the spring manipulators that bounce the dial in a couple of places. still appears to be a mosler 302 mech

I am in central Kentucky retired and enjoy bringing things back to life.

hi all

I am a hobbyist that stumbled into lockpicking.
I started picking some easy locks about 4months ago with heavy paperclips. this was a true challenge!
While waiting for my picks to arrive I did enjoy reading: Lock picking detail overkill, MIT guide to lock picking, Practical lock picking (A physical penetration testers training guide).

Here are some locks that I have picked (with real picks):

2x: Abus 85/50
1x: Viro lock, all spools
1x: Generic Masterlock
1x: Abus 55/40
1x: Guard lock
1x: Tri-Circle 264
3x: abus locks (that i lost)

I am mostly struggling with acquiring locks since the good ones are usually too expensive.

Nice to see you all

Good to see you guys here.

@fingernails yeah lockpicking is deceptively expensive and unfortunately there is just no substitute for decent picks and good quality locks. I'm picking that you're in North America, there's a thriving community there who can set you up with second hand locks to pick.

Both of you new guys might like to look at the Discord server, there well be more interaction there for you.
