Just another reason that I'm not entirely sure that Canada actually exists.

I wonder how litigious they are up there though, had that happened here that guy would already have a check and an ass kissing.

Re: Cops Arrest Dad After Daughter Draws Gun at School

Well, the first problem is that they are in one the the most gun hating/fearing provinces in Canada. Secondly, why didn't they ask "Your daddy owns a gun" or "What do you mean he shoots the bad guys?" That could have save a whole lot of trouble. I am not one to sue over anything but I hope that guys sues and wins a big settlement.

If a kid drew a gun over here in Alberta or Saskatchewan the teacher would have said oh thats nice and went on with their day.

I remember seeing this the other day, and I had to laugh at how ridiculous it was.

I'm in Ontario and that is absurd... I think it may have more to do with Kitchener than Ontario. Ridiculous none the less.

At first I though "ya of course, if the person didn't have his firearm properly secured, arrest his ass." Then I see the kid 'drawing' a gun. -facepalm

LOL when I read the subject line I thought the kid actually "drew" the gun, as in pulling it from a holster. Then I read the article. Drew. As in, with a crayon. I am... speechless.

This is one of the reasons why I live in a red state.

Re: Cops Arrest Dad After Daughter Draws Gun at School

My son had to re-write a story in school the other day because one of the characters in his story was carrying a rifle to hunt with. I asked the teacher if she realized what state we are in and she told me it is school policy not hers. She is a former marine so it doesn't phase her at all to hear about a rifle but she also plays strictly by the rules. I already put my son in this school because the other school didn't like my son defending himself from bullies.

Re: Cops Arrest Dad After Daughter Draws Gun at School

At first I thought that the dad was arrested because his daughter DREW AS IN PULLED OUT A GUN at school. I thought OK... that's just rediculous... the daughter obviously stole his gun... and then I realized DRAWS as in ...

WITH A FUCKING PENCIL......

What the fuck is wrong with these people? Seriously. I used to draw guns and grenades and bombs all over my notebooks and shit when I was a young kid. Since when does this warrant an illegal search of a parent's home?

All I can say is "I'm screwed".

1) I live in Canada
2) I own multiple firearms
3) My 4 year old knows it.

I've raised my son around guns. He's learned gun safety from an early age. I have a pellet gun
waiting for him to hit 5-6 years old, then I will introduce him to .22 rifles. When he's big enough
there is a mint Glock 17 9mm sitting in the vault for him.

Nice knowing y'all. ;-)

Re: Cops Arrest Dad After Daughter Draws Gun at School

There's a lot of anti-gun bias in the media up here... and I'm among the first to complain when I read the typical Canadian media reports about "man arrested with .22-calibre bolt-action military assault rifle and hidden cache of 50 rounds of ammunition!!!!"... but, having looked into this particular story a bit more, it may not be have been the stupid knee-jerk reaction to some kid's drawing that it first seems.

The young kid claimed her Dad had a "real gun" that she, her siblings and their friends had found and played with. The school interviewed the older sibling and several other students, and they all claimed it was a real gun they were playing with. Once the police got involved, they noted that the Dad had a history of violence, a criminal record, and had done time on an assault conviction.

Given all that, I'm actually okay that the police were contacted. I think the police were wrong in actually arresting the guy, instead of simply questioning him... but, given the information the school had, I can't really fault the teachers.
