Good conceal carry weapon

Hey guys I'm looking for opinions about what would be a good conceal carry pistol. I have a few but they are all full sized guns, being that I'm a small man there is no way that I could conceal one of my current weapons. For example I have a Glock .40cal. Model 22. It's a full sized gun, and impossible to conceal. I've considered just getting a sub compact glock to carry on my ankle. I want to stay with a least a .40 cal. I think a 45 would be a bit hard for me to conceal and a 9mm not enough knockdown power. Thanks in advance. Riff

what about just using a .38 snub nosed revolver? Easy to conceal and decent knockdown power.

I think I'd like a little more power than a 38. I'll check em out though. Also, I've never owned a revolver. Nothing wrong with them, just wouldnt be my first choice. Thanks for the input. Speaking of 38's have you checked out a 38 super? I'm pretty sure thats what my buddy over at the local gun store called it. He suggested it and I was like, nah I want more power than that. Until I saw the round!!! Holyshitballs that was a big bullet. It really suprised me. I'm thinking that the ammo might be a little hard to find, and expensive. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.38_Super

Also, most .357 magnum revolvers can use both .357 and .38 without having to change barrels, or anything. so you could have .38 size, and use .357 ammo.

If they are too pricey for you, try Taurus: http://www.taurususa.com/gun-selector-results.cfm?series=CC2&toggle=tr

As far as autos go, SigSauer is coming out with a new P238 in .380: http://www.sigsauer.com/Products/ShowCatalogProductDetails.aspx?categoryid=67&productid=273

And of course Ruger has the LCP in .380 which is a nice little pistol: http://www.ruger-firearms.com/Firearms/FAProdResults?bct=Yes&family=Model&subtype=Action&SearchIn=All&type=Pistol&variation=Variation&x=17&y=10&type=Pistol&bct=Yes&caliber=.380+Auto

I know .380 may be a little small - but it can't be beat for concealment.

Or with that kind of power... you could use the gun as a club and get the same effect.

Riff, I know an Oregon State cop that carries a concealed on his ankle, you have one already, that Walther P22, why not? Sure it's not big, but for self defense, your not going to be a long ways from somebody, your usually going to be close, they hit real hard, and there accurate. If I shot you with it, you would stop, wouldn't you!!!! Why carry something so fricken heavy? And if you want, put the short barrel on it, real light, cheap ammo. Easy to conceal!!!
I have been in the souls of many women, but I always end up on the soles of there shoes.

I've thought of that but in my state (Louisiana), I think you can ONLY carry concealed the particular weapon that you qualified with when you took the concealment class. I will be looking furthur into this. If I'm gonna have to choose just one gun it probably wont be my p22. I'm going to the gunstore tomorrow to "try on" guns. See how concealed, heavy, ect. when I have it on me.

That's a great idea, see what ones fit the best! Also, your right, be careful you follow the law to a "T" otherwise, you won't be able to conceal carry legally!!

Re: Good conceal carry weapon

Ok so I'm thinking of getting a springfield armory xd subcompact. I've heard that they are good guns. Link here http://www.springfield-armory.com/xd.php?version=62 OR just get a subcompact glock link here http://www.glock.com/english/index_pistols.htm....... and opinions??? I know that glock has a good reputation from me owning one and people I know. But I dont know anyone who owns an xd. Does anyone out there have some experience with those?? thanks!

Riff, I went up the road here the other day and a guy let me shoot his springfield, it was a .40 cal, some weird letters on the side, I don't have any idea what it was, that thing was a great shooting gun, powerful and accurate and he was shooting it as fast as he could and it wouldn't jam, one hell of a pistol!!

It probably was an XD that he was shooting. They are supost to have a very good reputation. Kind of a response/alternative to a glock. I want to hold one in my hand though to see how it feels. What I dont about my glock is that it feels like I'm holding a tree trunk in my hand. I have small hands. I really like the way Walther pistols feel in your hand, but I'm a little concerned that they arent as reliable as a glock or an XD. I love my p22. Its fun as hell to shoot. But its picky about ammo and my rear sight wore out so it moves around. I'm gonna have to get another rear sight. Havent checked the price yet. Kinda left a bad taste in my mouth about Walther.
