Yale Pushkey Padlock

Pulling on the shackle is how you tension this one. Roped it to the vice and put my back into it. I think I pulled a hamstring feather light tensioning this little beauty  I'll try to get pictures of the guts up and some rekeying tips later this evening.

Ok, so the "crown" opposite the shackle is a screw that holds the shackles retainer in place. You can grab it with locking pliers and once it's unscrewed the shackle/plug comes right out.

Check out the nifty pins! The last keypin is a larger diameter, though it's driver is not.

Any flat stock that fits can become the key, since there is no keyway warding.

Weird...so you don't need a tension wrench at all? Just pull the shackle and pick the pins? Very cool lock.

The oval (egg shaped) wear that this lock design causes is well displayed in the original photo depicting the holes in the cylinder plug. I suspect that this is just one of the reasons that it never caught on.

Re: Yale Pushkey Padlock

Wow interesting! Any ideas on why the last pin is larger? Beautiful padlock.
Howdy!
