Awesome, glad to see you guys are back up and running.

Any chance of buying one direct to save us both some money?

Riyame,
Sorry but kickstarter will actually be the cheapest way to get the lock. We will be increasing the price after the campaign. We will set the final price at 149 CAD instead of 129 CAD. This is because we will be distributing the locks through lock smiths and industry standard margins apply so although we will make far less there will then be enough money in it for them to be interested.

So if I back it for "1 deadbolt" I'll get one since the goal is met correct?
If so I'll be on your page with my bank card out next payday.
Also is the "challenge kit" still available, I don't need/want a whole deadbolt setup just the mortise cylinder itself and a key.

Logan,
That is correct. We will be delivering the locks this time around forsure. Contractually bound as they say. We didnt do the challenge kit this time around but lowered the price on every thing by 10 Dollars. Last time we dealt with a lot of confusion around that for normal people just wanting 1 lock. The dead bolt really isnt much of a cost adder its the extra keys you get with it vs the challenge pack. 4 keys vs 1. which as a picker you may actually want incase you want to try to modifiy a key or something along those lines.

I know this is an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one.

After watching bosnian bill bang his head on one of these a new idea popped in my head. Obviously bumping isn't my thing and I don't have one of these locks. But I want to run the idea past you guys to see what you thought about it.

Take a key and cut it into a normal bump key. Then trim down one side of the tip of the key, the piece that actuates the cylinder. The goal is that the key will rotated the sleeve that holds the pins up a little bit before the tip of the key starts to rotated the cylinder. Then attach the key to a gun type spinner.

What I expect to happen. Insert the key, turn 180 degrees and insert the rest of the way. The pins are now resting as far down as they can be. With the spinner wound up, pull the trigger. The blade of the key will hit the sleeve and start to rotate it, the sleeve will hit/bump the key pins all at the same time. Then the thinned down tip of the key will hit and rotate the cylinder.

If it works, one key will be needed for clockwise and one for counterclockwise rotation.

So, would it work?

As I mentioned in bosnianbill's video comments, it is possible to make a pick & form tool for that lock, so it is openable with a tool but the tool isn't practical for field use (takes quite much time), so it is more for covert entry.

I am 99% sure that this lock can be opened with nothing more than a paper clip. No joke either.

**EDIT** Either a paper clip or nothing, not sure yet which one would work better.
As there is no longer any such thing as 'picking bounties' (such as Hobbs's famous conquests or even the prize offered for the picking of the Yuema lock not too long back) then how about I put my money where my mouth is? I propose a wager; if I open the lock using 1) nothing or 2) a paper clip then I win the wager. This would be in addition to having 2 keys that I can modify (for the two techniques). Not simply to use to open the lock though, as that would be rather asinine. Otherwise I lose the wager and I pay out the same amount. Life's too short, let's spice shit up.**EDIT**

Neat concept I wonder if it holds up any better than a medeco mortise to a pipe wrench . Hopefully they make the bowley lock tough and pick resistant .
