BEST™ SFIC cores & how they work,+SPP

this is just to help people who have difficulty visualizing how small format interchangeable cores
work, plus a little SPP action as well.

I have a Best 7 pin IC core, I think its a D keyway. Is that small format? I got the core just to pick, and now I'm thinking I'd like to have something to put it in.

good stuff =) i will watch for an empty lock body (in fact i have an empty one i acquired from a construction site....they couldn't wait 20 min. for me to get there, so they took the bolt cutters to the shackle...i showed up, picked it to the ctrl line, removed the core for parts, and now i have the body, which requires a dedicated tool to replace the shackle, which, however, to the best of my knowledge, is quite generic)
pm if interested...

Take a key retaining throw member and slide it down into the lock turn it backwards and pull out. It might take a few try's but it works after you get her out. clip the tip of the spring off and your set. she will still function great and you will able to take it apart allot easier. kinda like an American 1100.

awol 70 the dedicated tool you mentioned for disassembly of sfic best
padlocks is expensive for what it is somewhere in the region of $100
The best cutaway padlock I posted on the foram has a cutaway core
thus showing both control lines as I said in a prev post I am going to try &
get some better pics up

here is another pic of the best lock cutaway as you may be able to see the throw member in this lock is fixed
I am hoping to borrow a camera from a friend of mine it has a extra wide angle lens so I will be able to get some extra close up shots for all to veiw
showing some proper detail of the cutaway core
