Re: Kokomolock's Videos

I went out and purchased one of those big magnifier with the round light bulb in it so my plan is to to a pin tumbler Ford Ign tonight and show everyone what the marks look like. I also bought an LED light so hopefully between the 2 light sources we will be able to see some marks on video.

Re: Kokomolock's Videos

Great video! I was wondering, one time I was going to make the check pin tool out of an old key and just cut it down, the same principal you used, but didn't because I didn't know if the milling for the pin in these cylinders was all the same, it should be shouldn't it?

Re: Kokomolock's Videos

Thanks, I don't know about the check pin location, all the keys I have are C123 and all in the same spot, but I have not seen any other keys to say for sure.

Re: Kokomolock's Videos

Have you tried just lifting the check pin with a standard pick, as part of the picking process?

As far as I know and from the experience I have had with these, the check pin won't stay put under presssure like a normal key pin, also it has to be picked first with the tool otherwise the plug won't turn enough to provide a shearline to trap the pins when picking.

Re: Kokomolock's Videos

I forgot to put my check pin tool in one time last night and I picked 4 of the six pins, then pushed up on the check pin from the outside and set it then picked the last 2 pins and opened it, so you could lift it with a standard pick as part of the picking process.

Re: Kokomolock's Videos

I have 2 Everest cores and it is not necessary to bypass the check pin first it binds in a random order like any other pin based on the manufacturing defects of each cylinder.

As for the location of the check pin it is always in the same place. The rest of the blank is filed down so it can not be used to make a primus copy.

Re: Kokomolock's Videos

I was just playing with my everest core and I think it is missing something, is there a spring or something under the pin? When I put the key in and out my pin doesn't move.

Re: Kokomolock's Videos

There is a spring above the check pin that pushes it down away from the bible so when the key is inserted it lifts the pin up and into the plug.
