HT4's (LockPickingLawyer) YouTube Channel

I started a new YouTube channel yesterday to start sharing my picking exploits, and shot my first picking video last night. I now have mucho respect for BosnianBill... not for his picking skills (well, just JUST for his picking skills), but also for his "picking around the camera" skills. What a PITA!

In any case, here's my first video... "Ten American Lock Series 1100 Padlocks Picked in a Row." This video is actually a good representation of how I usually practice. As I mentioned in another thread, I like to pick several of the same types of lock in a row... then mix them up and start again. This makes it (i) difficult to remember the quirks of a particular lock, (ii) more challenging and, (iii) IMO, more like picking a lock encountered in the wild. I didn't tear the locks down afterwards (as is the YouTube lock picking protocol) for two reasons. First, it would be a royal pain to do that to ten locks. Second, anyone with ears, eyes and half a brain will know that I didn't remove the security pins from the amount of clicking, and the counter rotation on the core. I'll do teardowns in future videos as appropriate.

PS - Jeffmoss26, the very last lock in the video will be coming to you soon (hopefully, I will be able to send today).

That is some quality picking, nice work. I am impressed with your patience, you never get over zealous with the pick or tension. Were you using a Peterson stainless steel slender?

For the next video try talking to us a bit :)

Thanks.

The tools used were the .018" Peterson standard hook and the non-serrated .050" Pry Bar. I love the .018" tools for American padlocks... if the standard hook is not deep enough, I'll use the #7 hook. They glide through the warding (unlike the .025" versions which tend to rub) giving great feel. Also, bending/warping is not a problem. You would be surprised how much more robust the .018" is compared to the .015" tools. As for the tension tool, the non-serrated version of the Pry Bar is a few millimeters longer than the serrated tool. It has just enough length that you can use the short end of the tool which, IMO, provides better feedback. I generally prefer the serrated pry bar, but for this application, you would need to use the long end which is not as positive a connection to the core.

Re talking... we will see. I plan to embarrass my AL 748's in the next video... some bad-mouthing of the locks' [price:pick resistance] ratio will probably be appropriate. :armed:

Here's my new video: Two American Lock Series 748s Reviewed, Picked and Gutted

I'm going to try and put content up regularly, so constructive criticism on improving the format would be appreciated.

Just as a point of information, I find that when using the ssl version of Keypicking, YouTube vids don't show up. I have to use the www.keypicking.com address to see them.

I don't know what SSL is, but would it be helpful/resolve the issue if I included both the embedded video and an http link to the video?

Well thanks, that might be handy.
I have had this before, but I keep forgetting about it.

What it is, https://ssl.keypicking.com is the 'stealth' Keypicking address, and that's how I have it bookmarked on whatever device I'm using.
