special pins

With even some low-end locks now sporting security pins, it seems timely to
do a review of something I have thought about for a long time, security
pinning kits.

Namely, the Mini- security pin kit (LMDSEC)from LAB.

The kits contains a wide selection of top pins-sadly no key or bottom pins
are included or available according to LAB. Though many hobbiest and lokies
alike, believe LAB does make security bottom pins for some of their OEM
customers.

Now, on to the kit;

All the pins are standard .115 inch dia., brass. (for purposes of this article,
all dimesions refered to are in inches.

The kit includes 13 sizes of top spool pins, .155 to .320,in various increments,
and 13 sizes of top serrated pins, .155 to .320, also in various increments and
some pin springs thrown in for good measure. The selection of many lengths
permits the kit to be used with many manufactures locks, including the commonly
found Schlage (in North America).

The kit is housed in a nice plastic molded case to keep the individual pins in
compartments. The small case size if perfect for shop use and especially mobile
use as the kit takes up little space.

With this kit, hobbiest can have a grand time, formulating ever more wicked
pinning combinations to challenge themselves and friends in picking competitions.

While working lockies will appreciate the ability to offer the enhanced security
offered by security pins, profitably and conviently to their clients.

All in all, a nice addition to anyones' equipment.
