PRESERVING A PEICE OF U.S. MILITARY HISTORY (set u.s. gutted

in this photo sequence I rescue, for preservation's sake and for some definite unique features,
to add to another ,more current type of american lock ie: 1105.
plus,some secrets in pinning revealed!
(i had the core picked, but it slipped into the locked position during gutting.)
what a FIGHT!!! after i got the core out ,it put up the best fight an american lock has given me in a LONG time, through TRICKERY
all normal keypins,
and spool/spool/reg/reg/reg. for drivers...
if you let it fall into false, you get NOTHING! no feedback...nada,zip,zilch...
so it had to be straight picked, and of course i had no key.
but...the better part of 40 min. later i had it open again,
and it was off to the races..now just a few mods, and i will have an us set/1105 key-retaining hybrid
lock which retains the original drivers, and key bitting....oh joy....=|

Those are some old dinosaur spools in that lock. I wonder when they started using the spool-serrated (spoorated) type?

well it had to be post 50's..i have looked inside old americans (i feel like a gynecologist....)
and found everything from regular,to barrel ,to normal spools in locks dating back to the early&mid 1950's,but NEVER serrated spools until around the late 60's....this is ONLY what i have seen,so
i dont know for sure, but if i hadda guess, 1968...=)
