Good to see ya Tom... and thanks for the heads up on that. However, I feel I've done more than enough reminding & chasing. Really this post is just to conclude my part in all this so I can spend my energy else where. Honestly the lock and/or money is quite meaningless to me at this point and doesn't bother me in the least. More important to me would be a gesture of acknowledgment.

I do not mean to come across arrogant, cocky, or judgemental. In fact, this is not even neccessarily aimed squarely at Rick... more so, this is just my general approach over-all when it comes to dealing with people. When I meet someone, they have a clean slate in my book, regardless of their reputation. This takes the possibility of pre-judging out of the equation. I don't care who you are or what you've done - your bad rep or stellar track record mean nothing to me.

Instead I base my opinions souly on MY personal encounters with you. It takes time to build trust with me, and only a second to break it. Once broken... you start back at square one. I've fucked up more times than I care to remember and I'm grateful for second chances. If someone wants to put forth the effort to start over... I am RIGHT THERE without hesitation or ill feelings.... willing and ready to do the same.

It's hard to say this in a 'nice' way without sounding a bit blunt. But the bottom line (just my opinion) is this: I would not DREAM of accepting a payment from someone without it being followed up with a prompt and valiant effort on my part, doing everything in my power to fufill the commitment a made when I took their money. If some spactacular event (and it would take alot) simply would not allow me to do so.... then (at the very least!) I would keep in contact with you. I'm sorry, but sending a pm takes 2 minutes of your time... probably less. To not respond or keep in contact with someone (whether it's due to forgetfullness, disorganization, or just plain ignoring them) is a slap in the face and very disrespectful. I like to think I'm one of the nicest people you'll meet... but if you cross me, I will tell you about it. Not because I'm an asshole, but because I respect myself.

Rick, I'm sorry to say this. But if you have that much time to be over on lp101...
then you've had plenty of time to respond to my pm when you opened and read it 2 months ago.

Re: Deal Gone Bad

Yeah I have to say this seems like a clear violation. Apologizing for him is pointless--he may be a really good guy, but it's important to know if he's a really good guy whom everyone should think twice about buying from or selling to.

Re: Deal Gone Bad

Ok... been about 2 months since I posted this now.
Still no lock or refund. And most importantly, NO response.

Only one loose end left to tie up I guess then...
to give negative feedback on Rickthepicks' profile.
Been there, done that... I now consider this a done deal.

@ Violaetor: Thanks again for sharing your bad experience too.
And I'm sorry to hear you lost nearly twice as much money as I did.
A single incident is one thing... 2 or more, is worth taking a look at.

By all rights, I should hop on LP101 to give the same story & feedback... but I've wasted enough time already.
You know, I could see someone not contacting me because they're not around... but Rickthepick IS around.
He has all the time in the world to actively post on LP101... but apparently cannot take 2 minutes for me.

I am offended. And Rick.... you should feel ashamed (I know I would).
Just my opinion, but unless you change the way you do things...
I feel you should not be selling ANYTHING to ANYONE.

Re: Deal Gone Bad - Rickthepick

I THOROUGHLY respect Squelchtones' decision to lock this thread and correspond via pm's.
http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic ... 56508#wrap
Squelch handled this in a professional manner. He did not take sides and was genuinely
concerned. He gave of his time in an attempt to help bring the matter to some sort
of conclusion. I am very appreciative of your efforts. Thanks you for that.

But THIS thread is NOT locked. And considering Rick has called me a "scammer"
I really feel the need to respond one last time and give some final thoughts.

Rick, I'm certainly not going to accuse you of outright lying.
Certainly it's possible that you did indeed attempt to send the lock 3 times, and ALL three times
it got lost in the post (VERY unlikely, but possible nonetheless). Just for the sake of argument,
lets assume you did though. Then there is much to be desired with your correspondece skills.

Not a SINGLE time did your pm's ever include something like:
-I sent it out. You didn't receieve it?-
-I'm going to send another one, could you verify your address?-
-I cannot beleive it's been lost twice! Let's try this one last time-
-I've done all I can. I'm sorry, but I feel like you're taking advantage of me-

I simply cannot understand why you would not say something/anything along these lines throughout all
of that. In fact, it wasn't until I posted on LP101 that you mentioned for the first time that you had sent
three packages. It's the first time I've heard that! That's ridiculously horrible correspondence on your part.
I'm not being sarcastic here Rick, but you should really re-evaluate how you correspond with people before,
during, and after a transaction. Actually, if you had, I likely would've told you NOT to try it a third time.

You say I was "scamming" you? lol. So I pay for a lock, & because I don't receive it I'M a "scammer"?! Bullshit.

My track record is absolutely stellar here. It speaks for itself entirely.
I am one of the most honest, patient, and polite fellas you'll meet.
I do not like conflict, and I will never make false accusations.
You brought this on yourself... not me. I've simply outlined
the facts of what occurred. Nothing more, nothing less.

My responsibility is to put my experience out there so that it's on record.
Whether it's intentional or not - as of now, there's at least two people
you've screwed: Me & Violaetor. And according to nhoj, your method
of packaging/sending may be risky as well.
Violaetor wrote:I had the same thing with RickthePick as well, paid about $50 for some locks, waited a couple weeks then received and email from him asking if I was Jordan (I am) and wondered where this money in his paypal came from (after agreeing upon the sale), told him it was me and reminded him of the email exchange we had. Said he would send them off, I asked if I could add a MTL to that order and paid extra for it. He said he would ADD IT TO THE BOX and ship them off, 1 week later a MTL came in the mail in its own box. Asked him about the rest that were "supposed" to be in the box which according to him he would have still had in his possession prior to mailing anything... never really heard back, I personally think he sold of the same locks to 2 people (or more) and hoped it would just go away.

Regardless of how many good deals have occurred, it takes only a few bad ones
before they begin to add up to a questionable reputation. Time will tell all.

Mods: Sorry for the drama. I consider this matter closed and will not spend another minute on it.
I do appreciate that this thread has been left open long enough to fully explore the situation.

Re: Deal Gone Bad

Sorry I haven't had time to respond here I have been pretty busy and...

Wow it seems the lions have already torn me to pieces based on a minority of poor experiences.

Firstly, I would like to mention that I never traded these locks for profit i did it to supply others with similar locks to what i was experimenting with so i could learn from them and also share some of my bargain finds with like minded people.

Secondly, a very small minority were wiling to pay for a recorded/tracked package.

Thirdly, a handful of individuals never gave me a real name or alias with an obscure PO BOx address.

So when i start losing items in the mail and then replacing at my own cost... still to be told 'I haven't got my locks' alarm bells ring.

I won't be taken advantage of and thats exactly why i stopped trading with forum members overseas and now give them away to guys in the UK.

I have made several hundred successful transactions through lp101 and keypicking.

I will admit that i stopped responding to a certain member who seems to have gone well out of his way to harm my reputation as they were clearly taking the mickey.

and thats that really you are all grown ups and can make your own judgement.

I would also like to add that until recently i was completely unaware of any other problems (asside from thsi one complaint) so was dissappointed to see an array of bad mouthing both here and on lp101.

I have been away a while and been very busy so I don't get time to log in and read every post like some of the guys on here, thus my late response.
