Deal Gone Bad

I've been on the forum for about 2 yrs now, and this is my FIRST and ONLY bad experience with anyone.

First off, it SUCKS to have to post this! I mean it. I don't like doin' this shit.... I really don't.
However, when someone does not honor a commitment after being given multiple, MULTIPLE
chances to do so.... I feel it is my obligation to make it publicly known here.

I sent a payment of $28.84 to rickthepick for a Millenco Magnum.
viewtopic.php?p=47637#p47637

It's now been over a year and I have yet to receive it. Over the course of this year I contacted him
only a handful of times (6 maybe). Each time, gently & jokingly reminding him of it. The response
was always good - that he would get one out to me. And usually included the word "crickety!" LoL!

My last PM to him was roughly 2 months ago. In it I said "after a year, wouldn't you agree it's about
time we wrap this transaction up? lol
" I went on to say that I'd be perfectly fine with a refund
rather than the lock if that was easier. Within a week I seen the message had been opened.....
I never heard back from him. About a month after, I typed this post up. I then left this in my
'drafts' for yet ANOTHER month... hoping I wouldn't have to post it. The time-span of over a
year though I think is more than reasonable & patient on my part. Ridiculously patient.

I'm really not sure what happened here. Rick seems to be a good fella! As I look through his past
posts, it's all good quality stuff. Even more so when I look at his feedback... all positive, and all
from solid members that I myself trust.

You never know what's goin' on in someone's life or what they might be going through. That could
be the case here. I guess what really tipped the scale for me though was getting no reply to my
final PM. It only takes a second to at least acknowledge someone. To be honest, had he contacted
me and said there's some shit goin' on financially or what not.... hell, I prolly would've just said
forget the whole thing, don't sweat it. I mean really, in the grand scheme of this little life,
wtf is 30 bucks?! I just spent more than that on cigarettes to continue killing myself. lol

Re: Deal Gone Bad

I had the same thing with RickthePick as well, paid about $50 for some locks, waited a couple weeks then received and email from him asking if I was Jordan (I am) and wondered where this money in his paypal came from (after agreeing upon the sale), told him it was me and reminded him of the email exchange we had. Said he would send them off, I asked if I could add a MTL to that order and paid extra for it. He said he would ADD IT TO THE BOX and ship them off, 1 week later a MTL came in the mail in its own box. Asked him about the rest that were "supposed" to be in the box which according to him he would have still had in his possession prior to mailing anything... never really heard back, I personally think he sold of the same locks to 2 people (or more) and hoped it would just go away.

Violaetor: I appreciate you sharing this. If my experience is not an isolated incident.... it should be known.

Nozza: I'm sorry to hear that... but at the time I can't help but laugh. I suppose the funniest
part of all that will be if and when they actually arrive on your doorstep 2+ years later!!! LOL

I first saw this on the evening news and IIRC it was described as an annual celebration/tribute to their patron saint of mining. It looks like a seldge hammer but it isn't, that's why it gets blown up sky high and they can swing it so easily. It's a purpose built hammer (for detonating those explosives -- yeah I know). :hammering:

I think you should let us know who this member is or you should give him negative feedback. Two years is waaaay overdue.

I bought many many locks from rickthepick and never had an issue. He always ships fast and most of the times free of charge (to Italy at least). Best seller ever.
Lately he's not often online, so maybe he's busy or has some issues... well, one year to ship a lock is a long time.

Cheers :)

Re: Deal Gone Bad

Well it's like this guys , i had written off my loss and had already promised myself that i would not get "rabid" like when romstar ripped me off ,
after a year or so i sent the guy a pm enquiring if he ever recieved the 10 lever ingersoll padlock , and about a year later he pm'd me back with
a tale of family and cancer , i just cut him some slack as i'd written my end of the deal off a long time ago , the member is not really active and
may well be on the level , but he claims items are in transit , so allowing for a slow boat from the southern hemisphere i think even allowing for xmas,
end of january i will be obliged to name and shame (site owners know who it is)

Exactly! And as I looked through Rick's past, everything I seen pointed toward an experience like yours.
Guess that's why I had reservations of posting for so long. As I posted, it even crossed my mind to maybe
pm him one last time. But I had already done this. And (in not such blunt wording), let him know as well
that it was indeed my "final" pm... just so he too, knew where I was at with this. So when I started feeling
bad as I posted this, I had to think of it logically: it is not my actions that has brought this about... but his
actions (or lack of rather).

Putting someone's name out there publicly and permanently should never be taken lightly. It can and will
do a great deal of damage to their credibility. Just as Nozza is doing... you must give the person the benefit
of the doubt along with ample, AMPLE opportunities to come through. Only after you've exhausted every
option (and you're simply kidding yourself) should you consider making the situation public.

Rick my friend, if there is indeed something major going on in your life, I certainly hope it turns out ok for you.
IMO, it's never to late to right a wrong. I would thoroughly welcome the opportunity to say this is water under the bridge.
