Re: Diebold 177-39 combo locks with stainless doors

Could someone post a pic of the inside of the actual Diebold 177-39?

The pics in the OP are a bit dark.
I have one of these babies in the mail as well! Can you say 'excited'!!! Oh yah! :yep:

Cheers

He is a local guy, and is very reputable. Have bought several locks from him. Can highly recommend him.

Here you go. This is from one I already had, not one the seller has. You can see the tab of the back cover off relocker in the middle of the bottom, the copper sheet. The drop in area and the nose are shaped differently than those on S&G locks.

If you guys send him a message you wont have to bid on them. You can just buy direct for less than he is selling them on ebay.

So keep in mind too that these locks are specifically handed and need to be mounted accordingly.
Eric shows a left-hand mount. Mine is a right-hand mount. Also take note of my spline key....
I want to make clear that I'm not certain about it. I believe it should be seated with the flag
over the spindle, not over the drive cam. But for a couple reasons, I like it the way it is for now.

On this seller: It's difficult to sell locks when you know little about them. But I have nothing but
praise for this guy! I've been 'schooling' him a bit. He's very interested in learning what he
doesn't know.... and is MORE than willing to make things right if a mistake is made.

Beautiful old locks.... they just warm my heart :D

Some more photos here. I just LOVE the design of dial on these!

Re: Diebold 177-39 combo locks with stainless doors

Oldfast, how do you tell which handedness the lock has? I know the S&Gs have orientation markers on their cam drives, but there's nothing similar on the Diebold.

Does it make a difference which orientation the spline key is in as well? The seller's pictures also had the flag over the spindle.

Re: Diebold 177-39 combo locks with stainless doors

The hand is which direction the bolt is facing when the lever is on the top.

I am not sure if the spline key orientation makes a difference or not.

Riyames thanks for the great info helping me notice the differences - awesome! However I am getting the "sorry, this person moved or deleted the image" message for the photo (it could be a problem on my end).

Oldfast, thanks for the great shot + info.
Regarding the handedness, if the one you posted is right-handed then is the one Daggers in holding in his earlier post left-handed?

I would also add that the seller has been wonderful in all my dealings thus far.

Cheers everyone.

Thanks for the sweet link, which will be so helpful once I get my hands on this baby.
Cheers.
