It's high time for a contest! Seeking suggestions

Hey there everyone!

It has been far too long since we've had a contest. We are looking for suggestions for a new contest. Let's hear your ideas people!

"Cave ab homine unius libri" - Beware of anyone who has just one book

(2014.02.09 - 23:26:03) huxleypig: i freaking love cream
(2014.02.09 - 23:27:11) huxleypig: hey, come on, cream is nice
(2014.02.09 - 23:27:37) huxleypig: aww, i suddenly feel very sick

(23:37:46) LocksmithArmy: you should see my school girl outfit
(23:37:50) LocksmithArmy: wait... what

(13:19:50) xeo: that chick will never be satisfied by a real dick
(13:19:54) NNFAK: I would man...

(22:59:49) PhoneMan: how do you let a forum die if users keep using it? kill the servers?

May those who love us, love us; and those who don't love us, may God turn their hearts; and if He doesn't turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles so we'll know them by their limping

If someone had prince albert in a can, does that mean they'd have a killer codpiece?

Re: It's high time for a contest! Seeking suggestions

I'm going to go ahead a put out an idea I thought would be cool but has more to do with our gathering here than of locks in general; So here goes:

Sponsor a contest the design an emblematic logo for this "organization" / this Forum - it is certainly worthy of a great one.

By emblematic I mean something "business attire" rather than "casual attire" if I may make the analogy. Whether it be a Coat of Arms motif or an Official Seal type of design I think it would be wonderful to get some of the community involved not only in developing the group visibility, even if its just among ourselves, but everyone will have a vote on the design entries. The owners would have to establish the parameters of what they would find as an acceptable entry then sit back and let it happen.

I would certainly purchase a rockin' bumper-sticker, arm patch, car magnet, etc. if it was a good design.

that's my pitch - I'm not really a salesman but there ya have it.

Cheers everyone

I like the Logo idea...although I have no idea how to actually create one, but I'm willing to try to figure it out.

Anyone else have an idea?

I have an amazing grasp of the obvious. Beyond that, not so much.

See who can send Xeo the greatest number of locks that he can not pick. The only limitations - must be pin tumbler, and a working key must be provided. The cost of admission - one bag of kitty food per lock entered, which Xeo keeps whether he can pick the lock or not. If you enter five or more locks, and he picks at least five of them, you have to go to his place and clean out the litter boxes for 1 day per lock that he did pick. ;)

Like the t-shirt that Gnarus designed a while back. The logo was pretty good.

As for contests... how about highest chat participation?

A better system would be step one, send me the locks first.
Step two, thank you.

The logo idea sounds good.

Perhaps a video challenge. Who can SPP the most locks in 60-90 seconds? Or who can SPP 15 locks the fastest?

Ha, I think I would win this one hands down.. Xeo came up with the 2nd half of my title after I send him some Bests to pick.... He said never again...

How about a photo contest? Categories could be coolest lock in use, rarest in use, oddest, worst applied lock in use, most interesting use for a lock etc.

I like the idea of the logo and the photo contest with different categories mentioned!

I think a logo that can be used for patches and stickers would be cool.

Hmmm. Been racking my brain, but nothing spectacular has come to me.

I've always LOVED keypicking auctions (w/ proceeds going to the site).
I just think it's a wonderful way to share something you've made.
A wonderful way to bring some additional funds into this place.
And a wonderful way to give back to the people around here.

What (if anything) we could even do with that, I dunno. It's just what came to mind.

I like many of the ideas I've read, will rack my brain along with Mike to try and think of something creative and fun.

Idea #2 came to me in a fog

Locksmiths in Speedos photo contest!

Then I woke up screaming in sweaty sheets. My wife was freaking out and my dogs were barking.

PS - It was cathartic to finally let this out, my therapist was right.

God Bless you KeyPicking.com !

It may be a good idea to keep this story out of Femurat's lock dream thread!

How about a competition between newer members. Any member that registered within the last year, or maybe two, not before then. The challenge could be who can pick the highest quality lock with nothing more than modified paper clips on camera, one continuous shot with disassembly.
