So at first I rolled my eyes at this, but have spent some time re-thinking its value. I didn't see the Sc4 version. The Kw1 tool says it works on All 5 PINNED locks. What about the 6 pins? Then there is the Smartkeys. I would like to try the pick on the Smartkey. Think I'll keep an eye on what others have to say before I make up my mind. Decoding a lock without having to disassemble is a time saver. I have some of the Lishi auto picks and they work great. Still undecided?

Both Lishi 2 in 1 Pick Decoders for KW1 and SC4 available for pre order $120.00 each at American Key Supply.

Video looks easy on a nice clean lock in a vise. But in the field with old dirty locks in a bind how many uses will you get before it breaks or sprung out of calibration by a heavy handed users is the question. Worth getting just to have one for show and tell. My order is in for both.

These tools do look pretty nice. I've never had a need for one of the auto tools, but these are pretty impressive. I wonder what's next? Yale? Corbin Russwin?

Medeco, Primus and ASSA would be on my list. The Sc4 tool, could be modified for Everest?

i would think it would be possible with modification, as long as the check pin is already set.

besides the check pin and the keyways on regular everests, there shouldn't be any difference. i'm pretty sure the key pins and top pins are all the same specs.

there was a very simple design for an everest tension wrench a while back, basically just an L-shape piece of metal of the correct size, just slides in to set the check pin and can also be used as a tensioner.

Seems that the new Lishi Kw1 picks are out. Several videos on Youtube. Have not seen anyone try the tool on a smartKey yet.

I was going to post a new thread, but I decided to necro this one... not sure which would be best, so apologies if I guessed wrong. I did a search for lishi and this one seemed like the best fit.

A lot has happened in the world of lishi picks since this thread... there's an everest pick for c123 (unsure if it will work on s123 or not, maybe I'll pick one up and find out). There's also one for best A but I don't personally encounter a ton of best A, more D/F/J/K/L/M.

Anyway, on to the meat of this thread, I got an SC4 and a KW5 with the hope of using them on SC1 and KW1 as well. I have encountered some tailpiece issues and will probably have to do KW1 and SC1 as well, which is unfortunate.

But more importantly, I have a cheap knockoff KW1 cylinder sitting around, and I can't get the KW5 lishi pick into the cylinder at all. It's simply a hair too wide. I can get an oem titan key into it, but my KW5 lishi is just too wide. Anyone else encountered this? I'm curious how prevalent that issue is, because most of what I see on residential jobs that isn't schlage is assorted knockoff kwikset.

I've only been at this a few years, but I've seen a pretty wide range of widths in 3rd party versions of both Kwikset and Schlage keyways.

I purchased a SC4 and KW5 offbrand versions from ebay a while ago. The SC4 fits ok, but the KW5 has trouble on some cylinders. I measured it with a dial caliper and it's 2.51mm at its widest point.

Mine KW5 is a genuine lishi I purchased a couple of weeks ago from lp.com and it's 2.39mm at the bow but 2.37 near the tip, which is still too wide.

Also, I did notice that the C123 lishi pick says C123/S123 so it apparently is designed for everest 29.

I haven't played with it exhaustively yet but I have noticed that really weak springs and thin master wafers seem to cause me problems in the field and on the bench.
