Mul T Lock E Series Interactive Dissasembley

In this post I'm going to try my best to explain how to gut or ( disassemble the Mul T Lock Interactive E Series.

This lock was a bitch to pick and took me two hours of solid picking, pick and reset pick and reset over and over until it finally turned to the two o'clock position, and then it was just a case of tickling each pin until the plug turned and the shackle dropped.

I used a half diamond pick, half ball pick which I modified slightly and a custom dimple pick made from an oil dip stick to pick the lock oh and not forgetting the wide tension wrench lol :D :D

Id like to thank Lockpickmen for helping me with a few issues I had about the interactive pin.

Re: Mul T Lock E Series Interactive Dissasembley

fantastic!
a real accomplishment.
while the piece at the end of the plug does prevent bypass,
(not that it would do you any good in this instance)
it is actually,to the best of my knowledge, so you can interchange tailpieces .
btw, our MTL paddy's have a detached bible...
VERY cool lock!
great job again.
thank you.

Re: Mul T Lock E Series Interactive Dissasembley

Can anyone tell me what is so 'interactive' about an MTL interactive?

All I see is a floating disc on the key, and a sprung bearing in the cylinder that pushes the floating disc up, in turn lifting the stack. It also operates the inner pin too..... yet the disc is flat, so this could be achieved with a pick since the inner pin only has to be lifted level with the bottom of the outer pin.

I've cut two of these away now, and both had PIP on the interactive pin, but I really can't see how it is an added security measure? The way I see it is that ALL interactive MTL's must have the same interactive combination, meaning if you made an interactive bump key for the other 4 stacks, you wouldn't have to worry about the interactive stack.

Anyone know? Cos it's bothering me now.

Lock looks milspec.

Also, the two screws and tailpiece are not specifically designed to prevent bypass, rather an added feature.

The core is universal, the two screw holes allow for a multitude of cams to interact with many different locking systems.
