STINK-E-LOCK ?

man, i just tore down my Mul-T-Lock â„¢Interactive, and my god what a stench!
i think it may be the factory lube,i am not sure....the stuff got on my hands and the stink wont come off.
i reassembled the lock whilst i figure out what to do....i was thinking of flushing all the internals with WD-40,then wiping it all down with a clean rag...
(the Mul-T i tore down in the klom epg comp showed no signs of this smell)
i do remember someone mentioning finding " smelly red powder" inside a Mul-T,
but never any mention of a stank like this.
if anyone has any suggestions, i am all ears (@..@)
i am going to go vomit now....
(no nauseous smiley?)

Re: STINK-E-LOCK ?

Great picture of the lock.

I've had good luck with "Lacquer thinner" I use a little jar and allow the parts to soak a while. You can get the stuff at Canadian Tire. Not too expensive. Make sure you get Lacquer thinner and not Paint thinner. The paint thinner is turpentine and won't work. You could also check any place that has automotive painting or bodywork supplies. They use it for cleaning the paint guns after use.

The only problem is that it has no lubricating value at all. The parts need some kind of light oil or something. Bad stuff on your hands too, it takes all the oils off your skin.

Re: STINK-E-LOCK ?

don't put oil in your locks it will gum them up. Put graphite lube instead. You can either buy the graphite or my fav use a pencil to "color" the internals of your lock.

First pic is proof that hobbyist lockpickers CAN have girlfriends!

Still looking for one that will tolerate my habits..... no luck as yet xD

EDIT: Forgot to show you the condition I got an MTL in! Even if I had the key it would have been useless!
