I have 2 questions. If you have evered used Jaakko's tool to open an ABUS, does the friction suddenly go away when you have a disc's true gate in the correct position under the sidebar while picking an Abloy with your pick? and when only 1 disc is keeping the Abloy lock still locked, does the tool give some rotation on the tension ring, or is it all or nothing in terms of a slight rotation?

Thank you, and kudos on the nice work and being mentioned on Blackbag!

Yes, I've used Jaakko's Abus pick and it is similar. When in the true gate you get more wobble and it does get a little easier to wobble that disc around. It's pretty obvious after a while.

Regarding rotation, yes it does move round when you are getting close, moreso when very close. The closer you get to picking it the more the sidebar bites down onto the discs. When only 1 or 2 discs away it becomes difficult to move the discs at all (they wobble within their gates (less so for false gates) but getting them out of their gates at all becomes harder and harder) without coming off the tension a little. In fact, this aspect of picking Abloy Classic lead me to change the design of the tensioner a little.

Not sure if it's ok to post the Blackbag link but here is the video from it:

Awesome stuff Hux! So you are Citadel Lock Tools?

Yes, we are the same entity! Our offices are situated in Lockfall Towers (the irony being that it is a cellar).

Send him a PM for details. They aren't cheap and might take a while to make since I don't think he keeps them in stock.

Why thank you Oldfast! And a journey it truly has been! Especially for what was essentially a long shot, lol.

If anyone does want one then the £250 price tag will not last long, I am putting them up to £400 (£350 for KP members). They simply take too long to make. I have to make many, many tiny cuts repeatedly in order to get it down to size. Even at £400 it is still over 30% cheaper than the only other (inferior in almost every way, IMHO) tool* on the planet that will do this.

Even at £400 (£350 for KP members) I do not make much; £250 pays me about £7 per hour, which is simply not enough to feed my family. Anyone who has already asked about one can have them at the old price and anyone who asks within a reasonable amount of time from now (say, a week) can too.

I realise that this puts it out of the price range of the casual lockpicker but until I own a Chinese factory and a large pile of cash then there is not a lot I can do about it. My best advice is to make your own version (like I did). I am happy to help out anyone with advice on how to do this too by the way, just ask.

* Which, by the way, was revealed only after I had made my tool public.

Haha awesome,

I told FunkyMix that you could do it :D It pretty much had to be your since you can't remove the ring on those old ones to decode the disc pack.

Beautiful work! Picking an Abloy is impressive enough, but 100x more so considering you designed and manufactured the pick too!

Yea, that is the Chinese company that supposedly ripped of Hux's design. They came out with it shortly after he made his videos public.
