Lishi inspired Schlage C pick/decoder

I didn't take this too seriously, it was just for fun.

But hey, it works! I decoded the last cut one depth off. I haven't done extensive testing yet, I may never.. It is either because my depth gauge is off, or because the pick couldn't get to it properly because of the deeper cuts in front of it. Deeper cuts in the front is always going to be an issue. Also decoding the back cuts is going to be harder because the gauge is smaller, this is because the fulcrum point doesn't move with the pick like it would if it was a real lishi.

So does it decode the pins after being set, while being set, before being set or instead of?
It save you from the disassemble to decode.

Guessing it would be great for spies, really covert.

Better get a patent quick. :D

Needs to be picked first. The lock was picked with the tools in the picture and then decoded with the tools in the picture. The key was cut an a key machine not in the pictures. It actually took two keys to get one that worked. I cut my first key with a 4 in the last position, it marked, re-cut to a 5. Didn't work, figured it had to be shallower, cut a new key with a 2 on the tip. It marked, re-cut to a 3 and was finished.

Also, even if it was patentable. It isn't now that I posted it online.

Well done! I think this is the most accurate homemade pin tumbler decoder I've seen so far. Just a couple of things and it becomes a professional looking tool: engraved index and a tied feeler.

Needless to say, +1 on "you're awesome" :D

Cheers :)

FF, I would like to third the 'awesome' vote too!

I too have often wondered why there are not Lishi-esque systems for pin tumblers. I suppose most are quicker and easier to pick by hand but for some of the harder ones, or if you're a beginner, I think this tool has great potential.
