I think I've gotten better at this. It's certainly a step up from the windshield wiper stuff I started with.

Very nicely done hook. I wish that I had the wood working skills that some of you guys have. Super nice work.

It's honestly easier than you would think, you don't have to be a carpenter to do this stuff. The only hard part for me is design, I'm not artistic AT ALL. Once you get your design cut out of your blank and you attach your handle blanks it's just shaping with sandpaper. Not really what I'd call woodwork, more like model making or something. The best part is you're making something for YOU, so it doesn't have to be perfectly square or anything, it's just what you want.

I'm not usually the type, but I really wish there was a TOOOL chapter or something around here. I'd love to go to a group like that, bust this set out and start picking like it was nothing just to see what kind of reactions I get.

Also, it may be awhile before I make another, it gets a little loud at times and the wife just loves that. Wait no, the other thing. Hates it, yeah that's it. :bs:

So apparently I was wrong when I said that. I liked that design so I wanted to try it again. Here is my newest pick:

I have something different planned for the next one, not just a copy of my last. Hopefully it comes out okay.

Handle is Naval grade weldable brass, pick is 302/304 stainless .025 feeler gauge stock. No clue what is with the option there, that's just how it was listed. Pins are annealed steel. I have a little more sanding to do, a few blemishes showed up after I polished it, but I've put about 20 hours in this thing already and need a damn break. If you attempt a brass handle, I HIGHLY suggest you get a softer brass. That crap is hard to work with.
