Re: Josh66 - Homebrews

All very nice, I personally like the look of the 'propper' bogota as is, it almost looks powder coated or gunmetal.

I haven't done the final sand and polish yet (I wanted to make sure they worked first, lol) - but they're certainly smooth enough to use. I might make the single peak pointier and shorter when I do the final sand.

.040" titanium, pick end thinned down to .020" (next time I think I'll leave it a little thicker - .025 or .030). The wrench end is about 1/8" wide.

I haven't been able to pick any security pins with the triple peak yet, but the single peak works nicely as a half diamond. The triple peak opens low security (no security pins) deadbolts & cylinders pretty easily.

Outstanding Josh. I've really been impressed with the work you've been doing in titanium.

Should you decide to sell a set of proper bogotas let me know. I would love to have a set in my kit.

Re: Josh66 - Homebrews

Thanks guys.

I don't have any to sell/trade right now - but I'm making one for someone, then after that I'll just make a few sets at a time and stock up on them. Once I have a few ready to go I'll PM the people that have already expressed interest, then make a post about the rest - if there are any leftovers, lol!

I just mean 'proper' bogatas as in this is the first set I've made where the back of the pick can actually be used as a wrench, and the first 'nesting' set too.

It's kinda weird seeing my picks in other people's pictures, lol (I'm totally cool with it though).

Re: Josh66 - Homebrews

they look ALOT better in person and my camera is pretty decent. i cant believe how light and strong they are...its like they were crafted by elves or dwarves in the fires of...someplace hidden and mythical and incredibly fucking dangerous...beautifully done man, couldn't be happier. now, time to pick some locks... :armed:

Re: Josh66 - Homebrews

Very nice work. I have made some high-end knives over the years, including handles of everything from mastodon ivory to fossilized walrus dick, but I never have seen aluminum brought to a high gloss. I think I will steal the idea, as well as the shape of your most recent pick. My grip is different, so the bends will be different, but I love the ergonomic design.
