CA adhesives don't cope well with flexion so the flex that the pick undergoes during normal use gets transmitted to the tang causing the adhesion between the tang and the handle to be stressed and eventually fractured. This is why knifemakers that use epoxy -- that copes with flexion a little better than CA adhesives -- still also use rivets. If your pick is very rigid then this may be less of a problem but it will still be a problem because there is always some flexion.
I am interested to learn if JRs and your future experiments with JB Weld succeed as this would solve a longstanding problem in pick and knife construction. But this is not to detract from your fine craftsmanship!
