Viruls Bogata Attempt.

I've been hearing (or at least seeing in type) the word 'Bogata' alot lately, and i was thinking i'd try to make one. My new file set arrived today and since i had a street sweeper bristle laying around i decided to give it a go.
I havent actually picked anything with it yet since i just finished it a few minutes ago, so i have no idea how well it will work. It looks ok though, for a first attempt. It took about 4 hours.

without further adue....adu.... a-Dew

That's some sweet work. Very smooth... even has the proper handle, nice :D

Where did you get sweeper bristles from? Those fuckers go up and down the alleys here, but I've never found any.

Re: Viruls Bogata Attempt.

Just spotted it sitting outside my house one day. I'm going to have to search for more. Although the street sweeper guy lives around the cornor and sometimes the machine is just sitting there ... all night ....unguarded.....

I managed to pop my American 1100 3 or 4 times with it first though.

That has happened to me quite often - even with commercially made rakes. I think this is the weak spot of the bogota design- especially when used for its intended purpose - which is raking. To me it seems that raking puts a lot of stress on that point and it snaps.

Also, every time I snapped a rake it was on an American 1105...

Design -wise it looked good, though.

Yeh it was definatly a weakspot, i think you can even make it out in the second photo above. I spent alot of time on that area trying to make sure the head of the pick transitioned to the neck nicely and i might have been a little........ over enthusiastic. And I was probably being a little to zelous in my raking technique.
i had fun making it and i definatly think i'll make a couple more out of the wiper blade i have knocking around.

Re: Viruls Bogata Attempt.

Nice bit of crafting there......shame about it snapping.....but if any consolation my triple peak rake snapped too and that was from majestic.
