Barrel pins

I Just found the weirdest thing. A barrel pin in a master #3!!!!!
Of course it was about 50 years old, or more. (Give or take)

We were bored and i said we should grind that old lock and we took the pins out and almost shi* our selves :o :o when we saw the pins.

i have an old #3 which now that i think of it, might have them in it...
i always thought they were serrated but maybe not.
you can clearly see that it is some sort of security pin in front..
due to the separate lines, one being the shear line, the other being the false one..

How old are we talking here approx.? I bet I have some older (not sure *how* old) #3's laying around that I'd be willing to dissect. I'll have to look around.

mine came from my grandpa who reuses the same locks he has had since the 70's or 80's

I've got an older Yale 5 pin rim cylinder lock chock full of security pins : 3 spools, 1 barrel pin, and 1 standard driver pin. My info has it as being in the nature of and anti-impressioning pin something along the principal of Dom torpedo pins. :barrel: :cool:
