Have now taken apart four of these locks, and two had the larger #4 pin, two did not. The first one I made a key for, while I did not take it apart (it was not mine, and I did not yet know how to take them apart anyway) also had the larger fourth pin, judging by how I had to cut down the key blank in order to fully insert the key.

On the two that did not have the larger fourth pin, the normal blank could be fully inserted without any difficulty.

Very cool! now I know how to open mine! (which by the way is the one in the first post!) Freaking mushroom pins in a lock this old, that's just wild!
As always Gordon, your writeups are very detailed and educational, I learn something new on here alot.
