One approach to foil impressioning

As many of you know John Falle invents and develops a lot of special tools for government agencies and advancded locksmiths.

He has developed a method for foil impressioning that works very well for those that have the right equipment. ie

Components of the System and Design Characteristics

The comb system is provided with all of the necessary equipment
to open one particular type of lock.

The components include:
.....Quantity of aluminum foil (30 or 40 micron thickness);
.....Hobby knife to trim the foil;
.....Foil combs for five and six-pin tumbler locks;
.....Different tension bars and spacers;
.....Insertion and extraction tools.

Re: One approach to foil impressioning

I've seen this before and have tried to make my own version. However, I found especial difficulty with getting the spacings right. Whilst it's not too hard too measure the width of the holes needed and the width of the spines, cutting them with a dremel was just too tricky! In fact, I got one stuck in a lock and it's still there today!

I think it's possible to make your own, in fact I wasn't far away but I gave up as the spacings are pretty much lock type specific and so you'd need loads of them.
