Though I've never seen one of these locks, magician seems to know about them. Are they a simple detent lever and boltthrow?

Depending on how well you can use metal working tools such as a welder and drill, you could very well make your own keyblank.

unfortunately i have only one of these at my disposal..=(
( i have a good drill )
i am after simplicity at its best..
hopefully the minimalistic approach will do the trick, this time 'round.
from what i can peer from the keyway (hole),
2 levers, and a throw bolt at the very back/bottom/deepest part of the keyway..
tension is the biggest obstacle.
(and would appear to be "key")

That lock appears to be made by G.W. Nock of Philadelphia, PA. Nice find!

I just joined this forum, I like it a lot so far.

About the only additional thing I know is that G.W. Nock made ornate railroad padlocks in the mid 1800s. My guess is that your lock dates from 1870-80. The book The Padlock Collector by Franklin Arnall actually shows a lock very similar to yours. It lists a value of $100! Like I said, nice find.

excellent info.
thank you..
are you a collector?
i very much want to bring this old beauty back into service.
(its SO awesome...)
cant wait to make a key,(or even just get it picked, but i do not have the tools i need..)
if anyone would like to assist me i would welcome any type of help.
(my main problem at this time is maintaining tension..)
also i am not 100% on levers yet..(i don't fully understand the forces and elements of operation.)
