I have been looking to make a bump hammer does anyone know the best way to make one?
Re: bump hammer
I'm sure others will have specific suggestions... Bumping isn't that interesting to me. But I have done a fair bit. Darn near anything with the right heft will work. Oddly, my most successful bump hammer is my desk stapler.

Re: bump hammer
Hahahahh desk stapler. I am very curious to see what suggestions come in as making a bump hammer has been on my list of tools to make for a while now. Never tried bumping but I figured once Ill get around to making a hammer thats when Ill try.

Re: bump hammer
Quick note, pleas post pics and I seen Petersons hammer but then you also need to buy the weights and cork right? Peterson started talking about this being the lightest hammer or something and started to confuse a simple hammer product offering variety. If anyone can clear me up plz.
Re: bump hammer
From the site it appears the weights are optional, eg if you want to add more 'oomph' to your bump hammer.
femurat: They're called restricted for a reason...

Re: bump hammer
I read that too but why the extra oomph? Seems to me that its a hard light plastic that needs the weights so operate.
Re: bump hammer
I use the Peterson bump hammer successfully without the weights. The weights Peterson sells are just a couple of corks and some bird shot. I think someone could improvise if they wanted to add weight to the hammer.
Re: bump hammer
Thank you all for the information I really appreciate it
Re: bump hammer
Yea I do too. Will be picking one up from Peterson as I needed something else to justify the shipping costs.
Re: bump hammer
NorWoodGolf, which Peterson hammer do you use? The tommy hawk, the blue or the white?
Re: bump hammer
I own the blue and the gray bump hammers. I like the blue one the best and I have not added any weight to it.
