Weslock

The other day I ran into a house full of weslock knobs and deadbolts. The deadbolts were fine but the knobs gave me fits. I have done weslock before but these were a pain. It was the kind that you had to take a screw out of the back to pull the cylinder but it would not come out no matter which way I turned it until finally the plug came out and the spring shot out. I could see no way to run a follower in the cylinder. Very frustrating. Any thoughts welcome.

Re: Weslock

Did you remove the knob from the body? After that, insert the key and turn 90 degrees, it will then come out of the face of the knob. THEN remove the screw and change the pins. Reassemble in reverse order.

Re: Weslock

Sadly there was no key, and it was sooooooo gummed up and dirty it would not pick.

Re: Weslock

Still close to the same thing. Remove the knob from the lock body, this gives you easy access to the screw. Remove the screw. Use a punch (or similar, anything that won't mess the threads up) through the screw hole to push out the cylinder. It sounds like the big issue was the crud, not much will fix that but a little elbow grease and a bit of cleaner! Collect money! Don't forget the last step. :armed:
