Anyone Notice I'm Obsessive?

So, Im selling all my modern locks on ebay RIGHT NOW! I'm doing this so I can pursue my new passion for Antique locks. Here's where Im at now. I have a total of 5 Reg'd Mail locks, two of which are Treasury Locks. I have 4 more on the way. I need to make keys for the Reg'd Mail locks and also the Treasury Locks. The Treasury Locks are KD from the others. I also have 3 No-Key padlocks. Two are Chicago No-Key padlocks and one is an Edwards. I need to decode the Edwards and one of the Chicago No-keys. I'm not going to keep mANY locks. I might keep the American Keyless Lock Co. Chicago No-Key I have on ebay, that is, if it doesn't sell past the reserve. But my primary goal is to refurbish, key, decode and document all the ways of doing so, whilst making money on the side to help support my family. It's my dream one day to become a Locksmith, but as of right now, I like where I'm at and what Im accomplishing. But I noticed today that Im so obsessive! I obsessed over the S&G Environmentals and got very far. My success there has platued however. SO now I've found this sector of the lock world. I will conclusively devise a method to decode No-Key padlocks and I will collect and document all of the Reg'd MAil Keys. There are many many many different Reg'd Mail keys and the padlocks sell for rediculous amounts sometimes. But If I do this right, the profits from my refurdished/decoded/keyed locks should roll over and fund the new locks, I haven't had a chance to buy yet. SO anyways, I just thought I'd share this so you guys know whats going on with my ebay sales and my soon to be relentless posts about what apear to be the same locks. Im going to add pix to this thread of my new projects and also make relevent new threads as I go along. Thanks for your help and consistant support everyone!

Re: Anyone Notice I'm Obsessive?

I've been buying new American Lock padlocks at about 1/4 of the retail and I'm selling them on Ebay. I'm having a hard time with the amount that FEEbay and Paypal end up taking from me though. I just ordered some locks today that I will be able to sell at a tidy profit and keep one for my collection. The 1105 padlocks are not that great of a deal where I'm getting them and I notice that they are not selling like they used to on Ebay.

Anyways good luck to you in your endeavors, I hope you are recovering well from your problems. We've all had those kinds of problems to some degree.

Re: Anyone Notice I'm Obsessive?

I remember reading somewhere or watching a review of Americans since they changed hands and the review was really negative. Maybe they aren't being made as well as they were and that's why they aren't selling as well? I would like to pick up a few more 5200's but I want to avoid the new ones.

Sorry for the hijack. I should have started a new thread.

I've used KennedyHardware.com for antique furniture replacement locks, for what it's worth. They also stock keys.
