Re: Official Secret Santa Christmas Exchange!

HT4 wrote:I received a slightly indignant PM demanding an explanation for why I didn't follow the rules and opened my package early. Since the PM referenced multiple people who were upset by my actions, I will respond publicly:

1 - there's no way in the world I would have taken a large sealed package from a mystery sender on a plane (that's actually a crime), which would have been required for a Christmas opening by me.

2 - The rules don't prohibit it -- at best, the rules assume a Christmas opening (which I personally think is a bit odd if we are trying to be inclusive).

To anyone upset/offended by my actions, please accept my (half-hearted) apology for not following the spirit of the rules.

I will not address this again in this thread, via PM or otherwise.

1 - Pretty sensible reasoning.

2 - Yeah, I don't see any such rule either. Even if there was one, who is it really harming by you opening your gift early, and what business is it of this person to become the enforcer of this alleged rule?

And I'll add #3 - In regards to the quote: "Since the PM referenced multiple people who were upset by my actions..." I'd be skeptical of there being multiple people upset by this. While I don't know all of them personally, the majority of the members participating in this project seem like a decent group of folks to me, most of them unlikely to get all riled up because you opened a present to yourself. I think it's more likely it's one person, whoever it was who sent the PM, who has taken it upon himself to be a Bossy Betty, perhaps inflating the numbers to try to add the weight of authority to this self-appointed guardianship of right and wrong.

I applaud the half-hearted nature of the apology.

Merry Christmas!

I however am in a bit of trouble now. I have been contacted by the authorities here. Apparently sending a random person on the internet a copy of our state's master key did not make them too merry. :D

Escapenrv, that pick set should have three double ended picks and the two tension tools. I only see two double ended picks in the photo. Check the paper trash. Hopefully it didn't fall out here.

I'm so glad you like it! I watched your collection video on yt and you had about every other high security lock but a Primus. I know it was a while back but I figured if you did get one you probably didn't get that keyway. Merry Christmas!

Very much agreed. What would be better is end deadline of dec 1 and ship by the 15th.
