looks like a y12, slow day at the engravers or he did it over a time with additions whenever he wanter to try out some evolution that he was going to use on the good stuff,
I wonder if the lock is similiarly decorated, and the doorknobs, plumbing fixtures.....

My dad in his prime could do beautiful hand engraving like that. He's pushing 90 now and his mind is wondering and his body is shown its age, but I still love him. My dad was a watchmaker/jeweler. I remember all the beautiful trophies, spoons and award plaques plus gun receivers he hand engraved. He even did hand checkering on gun stocks. I just wish I could have gotten him to show me the art of his craft. Mark
