Here are mine. They all come from the same place and were all used before the locks were re-keyed.

Riy, Nice! those blanks seem to be hard to find, for obvious reasons, and the locks are pretty cool too! (especially the mogul)

Altashot, very cool keys! Doy you work for a prison or just do their locks?

Very cool stuff!

Re: my new Jail/prison key, let's see yours!

I don't work for the prison, but I do service their locks. It can be stressful at times when I need to service/repair a lock
and the inmate is in his/her cell, they don't like strangers in their "homes". Of course 2 or 3 guards are with me at all times, but still...Once and inmate tried to run out, he was apprehended pretty quick, and violently I may add, he was then "hog tied" in shackles. Another time an inmate got a hold of a large screwdriver from my tool pouch, again the inmate was severely dealt with and the "weapon" was recovered. The best part is when I test the emergency cell doors release, where turning a small crank in the control room mechanically unlocks every cells on that block, inmates sometimes try to start a riot. It is quite a sight to see all the guards come into action in a crisis situation, they don't mess around, these guys a more brave than I am and are very efficient at restoring order and to put every inmates in their place. Their non-lethal weapons sure seems to hurt like hell too...A 1 ounce sand bag moving at 600 feet per second from a modified shot gun seems to do the trick.

Damn! sounds wild. A friend of mine used to be a prison guard, and he's told me some pretty wild stories too! Do they let you keep the old keys? and how much does one of the locks go for new? I'd love to get one, but the "cheapest" I've seen a used one go for was over $200 on Ebay, and it didn't have a key!

The new locks are (going from memory here) ~$250 or $450 for moguls and the lever locks start at around $600 I believe. All keyless of course. You can sometimes find them for great prices on ebay if you watch carefully and get lucky.

Re: my new Jail/prison key, let's see yours!

PhoneMan, the prison gave me those keys for samples when I needed to key new locks to match. These keys no longer work since the re-key but they never ask to get them back so, they hang in my living room among other lock and clock related items.
I'm so lucky that my wife loves that kind of odd eclectic stuff too.

The keys I order cost $112.00 each and the locks are $450.00. The moguls are $200.00 a piece. Keep in mind that this is my locksmith cost. I don't know what the regular price would be.

Hmm, don't see myself getting a lock anytime soon, unless I get lucky!
Someone had a vid of one of the FA lever locks on Youtube and they had some blanks given to them too. (supposedly to fit to the lock) Seems it was someone on here, any idea what the vid was called or who posted it? I can't find it now.

I think it was Bosnian Bill, he did a video last week on some Moguls.

Re: my new Jail/prison key, let's see yours!

Might have been one by mister sour that he did for me. I got a lot of 5 FA blanks and they fit some of the lever locks I had. He has since taken down all of his videos so you cant find it.

Why did he do that?!?! I think it was him too. Damn, I don't have enough space to download every vid I like, but sometimes wish I did!

Oh well...

Don't have much to add, but I'm liking this thread... and the stories/discussions that are coming with it :)

Could you elaborate? Is that left over from the manufacturing process or something?

Yes, when the blanks are mass produced, they are attached to each other in a large row/column with "extra" metal or otherwise known as "sprue" when they are separated, they break/grind the excess off. the entire mass is sometimes called a "tree" of blanks.
