So I was looking through my collection of keys and came across this. Not sure what it's from. Anybody have info on it?

Re: Interesting round key
It's been a while since I've run across one of these, I've always just heard them referred to as "rod" keys or something like that. I don't know if that's their proper name or not. I think it's basically just a dimple lock but with the pin stacks oriented radially around a round keyway instead of on the sides of a relatively flat keyway in a common dimple lock.
I've run across the keys to these a number of times over the years but I've never been able to take apart one of the locks. Seeing this again is renewing my curiosity.

I think I actually have a lock for these types of keys. The lock was for some kind of steering wheel lock I was called to take off of a customers car a few years ago. The steering wheel is secured by placing a crecent shaped metal cover over the bottom half of the steering wheel. And then this long metal rod with the lock cylinder at the very end of it is placed through the steering wheel cover, which will prevent you from being able to turn the wheel to move the car.

Yeah, i have seen them for sale a lot here, they are incorporated in steering wheel locks. They are not real popular i don't think because of the price (rather expensive).

Re: Interesting round key
Damn cool key. I enjoy strange/unusual keys and locks and that's definitely one of the most unique I've seen in a while. Grats.

Re: Interesting round key
Would be pretty easy to make an impressioning tool with this key. Drill all the holes to their deepest cuts (or just a teeny bit lower) and put blue-tac or Plasticine into the holes. It'd stay there nicely I reckon and work a treat, no?
Re: Interesting round key
That key is for the 2nd generation Club steering wheel security device. The W on the bow of the key is for Winner International, owners of The Club.

The original Club keys were double bitted wafer locks.

Re: Interesting round key
The same key was also sold with the brand name ' Super Bright ' with an SB logo on the key. They offered a range of door lock cylinders. Years since I have seen one though.
Re: Interesting round key
i imagine it would be rather hard to place tension anywhere on the lock in order to pick it, anyone around here have any success?
