I believe it is a roach clip, not an actual key.

Yeah, they came up with some interesting ways to disguise them in plain sight.

Indeed :agree:

Roll up a nice cylinder and use that special key on said cylinder of enlightenment.

lol... I went strong for some years. But those days are long behind me. lol
My idea of a party nowadays is to kick back with some caffeine & nicotine.

Really though, hopefully an old timer chimes in as to what the heck that is.

That key clip is for sure a roach clip. I still have at least one exactly like it around here someplace. I looked for it don't know where it is at the moment. Had a couple of them from the very early 70's. They sold them for years in what was called Head Shops now known as Smoke Shops here in Phoenix Az. For those local trivia buffs from the hay day the most famous place was called the Inner Sanctum near downtown Phx on the main drag called Central Ave. I wonder if I am the only one that still remembers this famous place beside Alice Cooper.

Can’t help it. I don’t smoke, but ordered one anyway. Thanks for the link, MrWizard. :D

Just a couple of months ago my wife told me to get rid of the key ring my grandson (3 yrs old) had been playing with. I looked at it, found one of these very items. When I asked my wife where the ring came from, she told me they were her dads. Now dad would be nearly 100 if he were still alive so I asked if some of her brothers keys could have gotten on the ring. She said "no way". When I told her what the clip was for, she was none to happy with my comment! Then proceeded to tell me I was full of CRAP! Needless to say once she calmed down a bit I explained to her that getting pissed off at me doesn't change the fact that this item "is what it is". So, I have one in my collection now!
