Is this a real key or what?

I have had this key for a long time and have always wondered if it is a real key or an advertising giveaway key holder.
I have searched the web and have not been able to find anything similar.
It is about 3 inches long and the rectangular bow is approx 1 inch X 1.5 inches and the thickness is 0.117 inches and has bitting like a real key.
The key ring that it came with measures 1.5 inches in diameter.
If it is a real key, what would it be used for?
Thanks for any light that you can shed on this.

Edit: I added a photo with a typical house key for comparison

Yeah was gonna say. Looks like an old jail key. I would love one of those cylinders. Even without a key.

Never seen a Chubb prison mogul before. Wish you had the lock to go with it.
