Old key

I was given this old key the other day. I don’t collect keys but judging by the warding, it looks to be from a higher quality lock than the old laundry locks. It came off an old farm and has been in the ground some time but is in reasonable condition for its age and history. Probably English, possibly handmade. Definitely old.

It is 4 .25 inches long and the bow is slightly bent about 15 deg. Works as a bottle opener. :D

If anyone would like it for their collection, I’ll post it to them for Christmas.

I’ll leave it for a week and if more than one person would like it, I’ll pick a name out of a hat.

PM me if interested. OK if no one wants it. Like I said I don’t collect keys so I don’t know if it is of interest to key collectors.

Season’s greetings to all.

The key looks to be of French design. The French were big on complex warded bit keys.

While I collect keys I'm not going to put my name in a drawing against forum members, but one person's name does come to my mind:
Selim.

He's a major key collector, he's done an awful lot of stuff for many members of this forum, honestly it's more than I think any of us could even hope to tally up. He's also one of the biggest supporters this forum has had with donations towards operating expenses.
I'd appreciate it if you considered putting his name into the drawing hat.

Thank you for making this generous Christmas offer to forum members.

OK two for the hat...so far.

Draw next Sunday.

Post or PM me.

Don't PM me any addresses yet.

Glad to see it will go to a good home.

Interesting that it might be French as most old things of that sort came from England but you could be right, I've seen some pretty wild warding on old French keys. Probably hand made too.
