However. None of them come from Canada. They're all from Britain, USA or Australia. Anybody know why it costs so much more to post something from the States than it does from GB? That doesn't make sense.

I found some on ebay, but for some reason ebay sellers jack the shipping up. $15 us to send a $12 item is criminal.

Check and see if they are shipping with ebays Global shipping program... I try and avoid global shipping as it cost way more then them just shipping it USPS.

I'm sorry I have no good source to recommend... but a word of caution in light of my experience.

Be careful where/who you decide to buy from. There's a lot of ebayers & companies out there
boasting "high-tech equipment" & "precision cutting". Then you receive them only to find out
they're absolute shit! It's actually become quite a pet peeve of mine over the last few years.

Here's a little rant I wrote a couple years back if you care to listen that long. lol

A quick rant if I may bend your ear for a moment, lol. I'm SO fed up with JUNK sets!
I've now collected sets from a variety of people and places. Some of them require
extra time/adjustments in order to use... but they are usable (more or less). Most of
them though are worthless to me. I will probably turn them in for brass eventually.

What ever happened to pride?! Making something right no matter how long it takes?
Has it been lost to time and money? Or maybe just plain laziness? I dunno, but these
S&D sets are what gives birth to an original! They should be nothing less than perfect.

The cuts should be smooth. A nice finish for the tracer guide to glide upon. The valleys
should run straight and true. The spacing exact. And most importantly the depths need
to be DEAD ON. Not just the first or last cut (which is often times the case) but every...
single... cut. From bow to tip. I've yet to obtain a set that meets all of these standards.

Out of frustration, I finally cut my own for Kwikset. Out of all the keys there are only four cuts
that are a half a thousandth of an inch too high or too low. All other cuts are dead, DEAD on.
If I was able to do this on an old (and VERY finicky) Foley Belsaw 200... then what the fuck's
goin' on with these people who have high tech, top of the line, computerized key machines?!

Anyway, after a lot of time, money, and frustration... I contacted a member here.
He will be cutting some sets for me. I haven't received them yet, but I'm sure it
will be worth the wait & money (and whatever the hell else he wants for em) lol

Just too many people out there tryn' to make a quick buck I think is the problem.

Thanks for the advise Oldfast. I did some reading earlier and they were not happy with the results. I think they are just looking for a quick buck. If your friend is up for making some AM3 keys that would be awesome. I found some old junkunc keys in my stash last night, little did i realise that junkunc bros is american lock company.

A locksmith friend of mine on the west coast (I am on the east cost) makes mine. They are dead on. He usually ships USPS priority flat rate which in a smal box would be about $12 to Canada. Not sure if he would be willing to fool with first class. I do ship first class with some things I have on ebay. If you want several different sets or know others that need some, that would help with the shipping. Not sure why shipping FROM the US is so high. I can buy something from China with $1 shipping. Costs me $26 to ship there.

Random the best way would be to get your local lockie to bang off some sets for you (assuming they aren't dickheads like some of the ones in my neck of the woods).

I got mine from ebay though for a pretty good deal (Weiser, Kwikset and Schlage for $18 US if memory serves correctly) I'll see if I can find the seller in my purchases list and send it along to you. Shipping will probably suck so buying a few diff sets might make it worthwhile


ETA: I was way off in left field memory wise (sucks getting old) the seller was was Deankaycollectors and it was $35 Can for four sets. One each of Yale, Arrow, Kwikset and Schlage. Not much help I'm afraid!

What brand and type do you need. I have acces to an electronic key cutting machine and a large collection of blanks. Most likely I can make them for you.

But shipping from Europe will be the biggest expense.

Recommend you have them cut as the six pin set, not the five pin set. You can always use a six pin D&S key for a five pin lock, but much harder the other way around.

Just my 2 cents.

I think Oldfast hit the nail on the head, people have no pride in their work. I bet some sellers are using duplicators to make their sets. It's faster/easier, but at what cost? I have my duplicator dialed in to the point where I can start with an original schlage and get to the 12th copy of a copy before it catches when operating the lock... Which seems to be more from the cutter taking out a little more space every time than the depths being off. But I still make depth sets on my 1200 or a punch, every time. If people don't enjoy the trade enough to sit around and play with their equipment and do things right, they should find a trade they enjoy more.
