Just got a subscription to LockCodes.com and I wanna test it out.

Post your requests for lock codes and blind codes ... hopefully I can get it for you.

Just need the code and manufacturer and/or type of lock.

Shout out to everyone that has helped me with lock codes before, just trying to pay it back

- worth a shot buddy there is many codes missing or incomplete on instacode and genericode too

Chap asked for the old split bay - screen vw type 2 1964 to 1966 T - SERIES had the codes - but not the damn keys

Does it have this code series - worth checking as the keys look like they can only be sourced in the usA - bought the last wi2 keys in Europe ! lol

Downside chap - did not come back in

yeah man. i've been trying to get codes for these yale railroad locks, so i finally decided to subscribe. my code source is from 1996 so it's missing a lot of stuff but this lockcodes.com site has a lot of stuff it was missing.

too bad Reed isn't still around or we would have more padlock and combo codes

Don't know why this is - its as if the manufactures did not want there codes known -

finding the keys as mentioned above can be very hard - if not impossible even silca stop making the blanks if there is no money in it -

a world with out keys and codes !

why have they stopped stamping codes on locks also - reason security and to piss locksmiths off in the future lol

Just to be blunt.

If a "locksmith" is pissed that a lock doesn't have a code on it. Then that "locksmith" is NOT a locksmith!!

Why? Because locksmiths do not need nor want codes. Codesmiths do..

Totally disagree with you on that - try cutting a bmw key at 4 am in the morning - keys lost without codes

all modern day cars come with a code card -it is part and parcel of the modern day locksmith -to know the lock and codes

Need to do eeprom work as well for the BMW. I'm not sure why it would be difficult without a code as I have never had a BMW code to work with.

Please note all modern day locksmiths require codes ie : depths - spaces and knowledge of the lock to make a key - this is my professional opinion

Space/depth info is NOT the same thing as a key code.

Yes we need to know the space/depth info. Or be able to figure it out when running into a new lock for the first time.

We DO NOT need key bitting info from a key code.

Agree with the first part about not needing them. Disagree about not wanting them.

If I had the option of replacing a broken GM6 key where the blade has been lost, but the key still had the knockout plate intact. I would rather cut the key from code using the knockout plate rather than have to do a column tear down. Doing the column tear down takes more time and increases my liability especially with the tilt telescoping columns where the nylon part crumbles at the slightest touch. If the part breaks I either have to charge the customer more to replace it (depending on the type of customer can introduce a whole new world of unwanted problems) or I have to eat the cost of the part.

In the shop where I learned about locksmithing, they didn't have a code machine, space and depth keys, or a micrometer.

I introduced them to lockcodes.com. They thought it was the cat's pajamas and started referring to it all the time. They ignored all the space and depth information on the right and just looked at the cut sequence, using a round file to cut the keys by hand.
