Any chance it was insured or anything? There must have been mroe than the gold door in there

there was a lockwood mortise, wise lock, gold door, medeco swith lock, half euro dom dimple, a pick, and maybe more.

insured or not, money can't give us back what we lost

When sending a package in a flat rate box:

1. Wrap packing tape around the box the long way three times
2. Repeat step 1
3. Repeat step 1
4. Wrap packing tape around the box the short way three times
5. Repeat step 4
6. Repeat step 4
7. Use almost an entire roll of packing tape to make sure some idiot doesn't rip the box open quickly.
8. Repeat step 7
9. Repeat steps 1 through 8
10. Mail.

Indeed. I received a package from a different member here this week... exactly the same problem. Someone at the post office is building up a good lock collection this week.

hmmmm. This is REALLY dis-heartening to say the least. Hope it all gets sorted out. I've gotta feeling the goods are long gone though.

I would certainly spend some time on the phone though. If it IS by chance an employee (I hope not), the tracking system nowadays
should allow them to narrow it down to a fairly narrow margin. Where they can at least begin to keep an eye out for the sucker that
might be doin' this. It's quite possible though, it had nothin' to do with the USPS. Either way... this sucks.

I believe aoyue2702 works (or worked) for the USPS. Maybe he'd have a little more insight as to how to begin lookin' into somethin' like this? I dunno... sucks.

theres really no point. everything is most likey long gone. we can all learn from this incident. like the saying goes, "Wrap it up!"

Jesus, what a ballache. I'd love to have those locks to play with, monetary value aside. Incidentally, do we have any idea of how much was 'lost'?

Who other than locksport enthusiasts would want to steal such a thing though? I imagine if I worked for a parcel delivery service and opened a package that looked interesting but contained, say, a bunch of motors or a pile of cogs then I'd just put them back, move along, nothing to see here...

Wow this sucks, I can't believe this kind of thing could actually happen. I've never heard of packages getting opened by the mail service, but then again if it was across borders maybe? I was really looking forward to that gold door . Oh well, I'll keep an eye out on ebay for one I suppose.
