Having some problems sending messages

I didn't really want to make a post like this because if it turns out to be something really easy to fix I will feel pretty stupid but whatever.

So my problem is that every time I send a message it goes straight to my outbox and then just sits there and doesn't send. So after about 30 minutes of trying to fix it and deleting messages making sure I had a lot of space in my inbox and sent folder which didn't work either I e-mailed jruther2 about it and just went to sleep. So now it is morning and the e-mail I sent through keypicking that was supposed to go to him is sitting in my e-mail inbox. Does anyone have an idea of what could be going on here?

I could be wrong here but from my understanding it will sit in the outbox until the recipient has read said private message. I hope that helps, someone please correct me if I am wrong.
