LockWiki's 3rd Birthday!
Posted: Fri Nov 11, 2011 11:43 amAs of the 25th of November LockWiki will be three years old! In the last year the site has got quite a few new pages and tons more pictures. Right now there are:

641 images
345 registered users
A big thanks to many posters here other forums for contributing in the last year. In particular, a big thanks to xarragon, Oaklandishh, Jason Aller, Nickinator, and Sandplum for many contributions throughout 2011.
For those who don't know, Lockwiki is a collaborative wiki that focuses on locksport and related topics. The goals of the site are as follows:
(1) Provide an organized reference on topics relating to locks, safes, locksport physical security. (Forums are great but hard to reference.)
(2) Provide a source of free and re-usable information and pictures to everyone, but particularly locksmiths, locksport groups, and security professionals.
(3) Provide information on the characteristics and vulnerabilities of different lock models for consumers.
Lockwiki content is licensed under the Creative Commons Share-Alike/Attribution 3.0 license. In short, this means you can modify and re-use the content as long as long as you (1) cite Lockwiki as the source, and (2) share your version under the same license. Images are licensed based on what their copyright status is, and may vary from image to image. Make sure to double check the image page for copyright information beforehand! If you are planning on adding images but don't know what license to choose, I'd recommend Creative Commons Share-Alike/Attribution 3.0 (cc-by-sa-3.0).
Being collaborative, Lockwiki needs your help! There are still many pages that could use improvement, and many that are yet to be made. You can help in many ways:
(1) Adding, expanding, correcting, and organizing articles
(2) Uploading high-quality pictures of locks, safes, keys, and other related objects
(3) Expanding the Help and documentation sections, as well as adding templates and advanced functionality
(4) Creating logos, buttons, icons, and other graphics for the site.

To help me get more info that people want to read/see on LockWiki, please take a moment to answer the following questions:
1. I wish LockWiki had more pages on __________.
2. The page I'd like to see most on LockWiki is ____________.
3. You should really expand the page on ___________!
I'll be uploading a few hundred more pictures onto the site for LockWiki's birthday and hopefully finding time to add a number of good pages on high security locks.
